Hubs is wanting paella. Last time he had any was at Maya in NOLA. Anywhere to get it in BTR?

I'm thinking not.

Looks like a long drive. Easy on the sangria for the ride home.

Vega in Metairie is like 10 miles closer.

La Reyna has it. Never had it there, but everything else I've had there was good. Worth a shot.

I think it's actually Guatemalan, but as long as nobody calls it Mexican I'm good. Their puerco guisado is stupid good.

Real Mexican food is close, but agreed.

I refuse to eat "Mexican" (AKA what Americans call Mexican) cheese/rice/ground beef shite any more.

Although you may say no way, paella is very easy to make at home. Just get the proper rice (Calasparia, Bomba, or Arborio). If you have made jambalaya, you can make paella.

I cook my butt off, but to this I say no way. Cooking rice in a dish (rather than adding it cooked) and mussels are two of my very few Achilles heels. And both? In one dish?? I'll drive his arse to NOLA.

I will check out La Reyna. I have heard only good things, and the menu looks interesting.

I thought a pupusa was a puffy foldover sandwich thing, too!
