Leadership/On and off the field

I have been a steady supporter of JJ fir 4 years because of his toughness and gutsy play, but if this scenario proves out that he was central in the altercation, he will have relinquished his leadership role of the team. he will have shone that he's not worthy of leading LSU in any capacity. His physicality is unquestioned, but his decision-making ability has always been wanting and may have been proven once again. The oracle has spoken!

I do not want a thug of any kind representing LSU in any capacity. If Jefferson kicked this guy while on the ground, I hope Miles kicks him off the team. Period!

LSU has never needed JJ to be a leader.
The problem here is that this recent story calls into question whether or not JJ is even a decent follower.

Well T-Bob seems like he has shown himself to incapable of staying out of trouble. Between past instances and him being called out by Miles in this, I have to question WTF is going on inside his head.

I've said it before.... there is ZERO leadership on this team. Another year of "It's all about me".

Most of the players on any team will never be true leaders. In fact, most people prefer to follow...it doesn't require any real character. But the QB on a football team necessarily needs to be able to make good decisions that affect the entire team as well as the University as a whole.
JJ appears often to be angry and frustrated with himself...and as with so many people of today, they find it so much easier to blame anybody but themselves for their short-comings. As the black Democratic mayor of Philadelphia said last week, it's time for many black men to stand up and accept responsibility for their lives and stop blaming the white man for the mess that is their lives. Sorry if the truth hurts. I have long since stop making excuses for anyone...as the U.S. Marines are famous for saying, "Excuses are like a-holes, everybody has got one!"

... or he could just be too coddled and pampered, and not frustrated with himself enough ... it's hard to say...
One thing is clear, the absurd PR campaign Miles put on for JJ this year could not possibly have been a good thing for his character. Any way you look at it, JJ was being coddled or used.

I guess you could definitely say his physicality can't be questioned.

If you were honestly relying on JJ to be a leader this year for the team, then you pretty much should write of the season.
JJ has a lot of potential to be a solid QB, and brings a lot to the table that the other 2 QBs don't, but leadership is not one of those things. It's just not his thing. He has his moments, but I've never seen him actually show great leadership in his 3 years at LSU, so no reason to expect it now.

So what do we do with Mettenberger that has a conviction on his record already?
It seems he gets a lot of love on here.

You are correct. He is not a hologram.

You might want to wait before the stone throwing starts. If any past problems have been an indicator, some of those who's leadership have been questioned were in fact standing up or in for others in the past, and possibly in this incident.
Sometimes it's still leadership/teamsmanship, even if you don't agree with it.
I think a lot of people forget or have forgotten what it's like to be a young person, with your friends.

One BIG difference.
Z. Mettenberger was a freshman when he had a brain-fart moment, J. Jefferson OTOH is a SENIOR.
Players look up to SR for leadership, not a FR, right???
