Take a look at this new video tool
New Orleans Saints Configuration

How accurate do you think this is, as to proportions and distances?

It appears to me, there's plenty of room for a football pitch. NFL width is 55½ yards. Only need 14½ yards, 7¼ fromt he inside of each sideline, to get a FIFA santioned pitch in there.

Of course, this isn't a live photo....like this one.

It almost appears to be a bit MORE suited than before.

Looks like there is more than enough room to add 7+ yards to either sideline. US v Honduras friendly?

How about an MLS expansion team? NOLA FC?

Definitely looks like they could fit it in there. That would be awesome.

If that ever would happen, they'd definitely have to sell tickets like the Sounders. They only open like half the stadium.

Plaza level only would be my guess.

There's been talk for years, that the Dome couldn't host footy, when, in fact, we should have been a venue in 1994, and should be for any future U.S. bid.

I don't think it's the venue for a New Orleans club side, but for big matches or internationals it SHOULD be on the list. US v. Honduras would be sick.

Agreed.

Yes it would. I think they could easily get 50K+ to attend.

My only concern would be having a pitch as shitty as the one we saw in Detroit for the Gold Cup.

I didn't see it. Was it grass brought in over the Field Turf, or did they play right on the Field Turf?

Hey, can someone fark the photo to have a football pitch without gridiron lines?

It was grass - fell apart pretty quickly.

Sucks. I know in 1994 when they played matches in Pontiac Silverdome in Detroit, they had the grass in big hexagonal trays that they'd bring outside to get sun and irrigation. Then they'd bring them back in and bolt them together.

Seemed to work well, then.
Superdome did it back then, as well for a pre-season game, and it didn't do badly, but not the same set up as Detroit.

for real technology to have grass fields in an indoor facility has to exist by now.

and for the 94 world cup New Orleans > Detroit easily.

who the frick in the world wants to go to Detroit? everyone loves New Orleans and the Superdome is in walking distance from French Quarter.
