A Feast for Crows (Spoilers up to A Dance with Dragons)

I just finished AFFC and thought I'd start a little thread with questions that I think will only lead to opinions and theories.
1. What do you think Brienne said before the possible hanging?
2. Is the takeaway with the reveal of Tom O'sevens supposed to be that he is the informant in the Lannister/Frey camp letting the Brothers without Banners know where stuff is happening? Does Edmure know this? Or is there another reason he said something along the lines of "No, not him" before Tom began singing "The Rains of Castamere".
If these questions are answered in ADWD, let me know and I'll do my best to avoid whatever this thread becomes. I just assumed most of ADWD had a parallel time frame with AFFC for a large part.

1) is not outrightly stated, not even hinted, but it can be surmised from ADWD
2) Yes, no, no
2) Yes, no, no

Thanks.
Then what is the deal with Edmure's reaction?

Wait, sorry, misread the third Q (On my fourth beer, shut up...).
Remember the bit talked about earlier in the book about Edmure hating singers because of a certain singer making a song about a "floppy fish?" They made clear before that Tom was that singer.

Tom once ran afoul of Edmure Tully when he stole a girl that Edmure was supposed to bed to take his virginity. Edmure had drank too much and was unable to perform. Tom then made a song about a floppy fish, which led to Edmure's hatred of music.

Thanks, man. That's impressive.

finished last night.
kind of strange how some characters we come to know are just killed off in particularly davos. gonna suck reading his chapters in a dance with dragons knowing his fate. also lord berric giving up his life for zombie cat
brienne's chapters were god awful in this one. feel bad for her but her quest just seems so pointless that i could care less about anything from her point of view.
i actually loved Sansa and Littlefinger. The scheming is awesome and the way Sansa can manipulate Robert gets her some mad props
arya was awesome as always but im going to be PISSED if she stays blind
cersi is a crazy bitch but good to see kettleback rat her arse out and the high sparraw chain her up.
is margery a ho fo sho??? did pycelle lie about the moon tea, seems like when we first learn about it, he is telling the truth
my favorite part of this book was when Doran was telling Arianne the plans for her which were for her to wed Viserys till he was killed by the golden crown and that her brother is now off courting Daenerys

I want to see Tyrion play Doran in cyvasse. That would be an epic match.

I don't think Davos is really dead. If you learn one thing reading these books, heresay isn't usually the truth. I think we'll have a situation similar to Theon and the young Stark boys.

feast of crows is the weakest in the series for me. Just don't like most of the char's portrayed in this book but still a nice read.

I had trouble putting down the last three. I'm having trouble staying up reading this one..
I mean Brienne, Sansa, Cersi, Sansa... All the people I didn't care about. I want to see Cersi fly..

I enjoyed it but it was slower paced than its predecessors. I am finding ADWD slower paced as well but still enjoyable. As for AFFC, my favorites were the Arya chapters by far, but I liked the Sansa chapters b/c I enjoyed getting a glimpse into Littlefinger's plotting. Although Cersei is a character I love to hate, that made her final chapter beautiful to read... justice! Ha! As for Margary, I haven't quite figured her out--I am wondering if the moon tea was for one of the gals in her party?? Or does it have some other use besides as an abortion drug? And why on earth would they trust Pycelle anyway?
I didn't think I would be that interested in Dorne, but I found I got more into it with time--just wish Oberyn (sp?) would have stuck around longer.

The Dornish chapters were my favorite part of AFFC. I just liked the makeup of their culture, way of life, and traditions. The Sand Snakes also seem like a group of bitches nobody should mess with.
That reminds me of a question I had while reading, why are the Lords of Dorne called Prince and Princess?

It ties with the Martell words:"Unbent, Unbowed, Unbroken."
Of the Seven Kingdoms, Dorne is the only one that did not knell to, or was conquered by, the Targaryens. They resisted conquest for over 200 years, until they finally joined the fold by marriage between the two houses.
Because of this "Dornish law" remains in place in Dorne (i.e. heirs are determined by simple seniority rather than preference for male linage...that plot point dealing with Myrcella) and the "lord" of the region retains the royal honorific.
Because of this while they are subservient to the Iron Throne, they have a great more deal of independence than the rest of Westeros.

I thought that was pretty much the case. Actually, after writing that question, I read a pretty good article on Tower of the Hand going over the history of the Targaryans. It's amazing how what could pass for a history essay was written just off stories from the first 4 books (the article was written before ADWD) and I guess the smaller novelas.

It helps to read the appendices at the end of the novels as well.
At least they are an easier read than the LOTR ones.
Jesus Christ, they actually READ like a history textbookk.
