Trying to change my terrible eating habits, consisting of Izzos and Pluckers every other day.

Any way to easily transition?

I'm looking for simple, semi-healthy recipes and food choices. TIA!

Depending upon what you get at Izzos...it is really not that bad for you.

Agreed. Stay away from refried beans, sour cream and guacamole and that place is pretty healthy.

Are chicken wings really that bad for you?

If there is a lot of butter in the sauce you could probably pretty easily make a low fat chicken wing dinner at home

most chicken wings are deep fried in oil too, plus the sauce has oil or butter

Try CookingLight.com for some recipes. They often "recreate" dishes with healthier items.

As far as eating out, grilled chicken at most restaurants is fine but I know I personally couldn't eat out and get grilled chicken every time

I ate Izzos at least 3x a week in college, and I still get it every single time I come back to Louisiana- and if you do it right you can eat relatively healthy there, but where's the fun in that?

I like this blog a lot for lighter recipes of unhealthy foods I can't give up Eat Yourself Skinny also check out Hungry Girl, they have a handful of low-cal alcoholic beverages which is great because I could never do a diet that consisted of no drinking

It took me a few times, but I now prefer pinto and black to refried. Definitely give them a shot.

I still get sour cream, I haven't gotten over it yet.

grilling, and lots of it! Grilled pork is like free food calorie wise.

I must be the only crazy person who's not a fan of Izzos. I got nachos for dinner last week and only ate 1/4 of them and felt sick all night.

try working on portion size. Instead of eating the whole thing, only eat half. Save the rest for later

Honestly, a couple of healthy alternatives aren't going to help you very much. They won't be as tasty as your restaurants, and they'll get old after a while.

The best way is to go to Food Kindergarten. Learn the true value of nutrients, what they do, and what foods carry them. Then learn basic cooking techniques. Then start an exercise regimen. Finally, develop the will power to persevere.

Calories and fat grams aren't the cure for health issues. You might drop a few pounds and feel better about yourself, but in the long run, you've done nothing.

Just my 2 cents.

If you have an Iphone, download the my fitness pal app. I started using a month ago and dropped 10 lbs.

It holds me accountable for the calories you eat and kind of pushes me toward working out on days I splurge in order to achieve my calorie goal. It has most restaurants on their and will help on making healthier decisions when going out to eat.
