Anyone catch Miller tonight on 107.3 going on and on about his wonderful meal at the "it" restaurant in Chicago named Next?
Can't tell if I'm being had by either the restaurant or Miller, but on the surface it sure sounds swell.

It's the same chef from Alinea, which I've heard rave reviews about. I watched a piece on him this weekend. I think the new place had 19,000 reservations made when it opened.

It's only the highest rated restaurant in America, and #6 in the world.
I can assure you that it's a meal to sacrifice a lot for.

I knew it wouldn't be long before you joined this thread.

Really, I just can't do black market tickets for dinner, no matter what it is.
Hopefully the hype for Next is at a controllable level whenever I'm in Chicago again.

I was trying to explain his restaurants to my mom this weekend. She thought I was nuts for wanting to go.

You're not nuts at all, promise. I do think it helps to have a good bit of fine dining under your belt, though - otherwise I don't think the experience can be truly appreciated at its maximum.
As long as you're not hard-headed and willing to let go and enjoy the ride, it could be a life-changer for you.

Just meet him at Lou Malnati's afterwards, and you can get a glass of water.

Have you read the story how he had tongue cancer? Amazing.

Alinea does not serve ranch.

Yep, I did a lot of reading about G.A. and Alinea before I decided to take the plunge.
His "memoir" is definitely worth reading, though it was a little different than I thought it would be:
Life On The Line
