Rotate a lot, but not start.

I think he will get about the same number of snaps as any DT. Whether he is actually a starter, who knows. that doesn't matter IMO

Exactly. We rotates 2 deep dline rotation. He will get plenty of PT

naming starters on that defense is pretty much arbitrary at any position.

our rotations will be sick.

he has a great shot but we have some very good DTs that will be rotating in. He will get a lot of pt if he doesnt start

Like Patrick Peterson as freshman, it will depend on how necessary he makes himself to the team.

Brockers is sure to start. Has Downs got up to a size to be an every down defensive tackle yet? Last time I checked, he was at 275.

I think by season end Johnson is the third DT behind Logan and Brockers.

I don't follow recruiting and high school players...BUT...today I spent the day with a coach who Coached Anthony Johnson at one of the All-Star games...and he said he is a MAN. He said he will be playing a lot. He spoke very highly of Anthony Johnson.

This coached played at USC and a few years in the NFL and he was really impressed with AJ.

Will Blackwell-when healthy, IMO-is our best interior offensive lineman. It's not close, either.

Look at how preoccupied with getting off the ball and getting after Freak that Blackwell was in the National L Club Spring Game. Guy had two false-start penalties where he was sprinting off the line trying to initiate contact with Johnson.

Seriously, go back & look. He was lined up on Johnson, & Freak was giving Blackwell all he wanted. As a senior who should've been worried about prom, even.

This guy may not start, but the hole left by Nevis won't be anywhere near as small now that we have him, Ego, & Brockers in there.

Whomever mentioned Downs is a bit off. He's way down the rotation, unfortunately, He is not consistent, at all.

I think the fact that he got in early will be a huge boost for him. Strength is so important for DL so the extra time at LSUs weight room will help him tremendously.

That being said an 18 yr old is going to be physically behind a 21 yr old so I think him starting over highly talented more physically mature players is unlikely. He will definitely play a good bit IMO.

What about Mickey Johnson? He is a power lifter and has the strength to compete early.

I can't see Mickey contributing this yr. with Brockers, Downs, Freak, Logan and Ego already ahead of him, I could easily see him redshirting.

I would be surprised if Johnson isn't starting. The comment about him at the spring game was right on. That guy is a handful. After summer workouts and fall practice he is going to be even better. I guarantee he played better than Logan did and Downs is always banged up.
