Look at how preoccupied with getting off the ball and getting after Freak that Blackwell was in the National L Club Spring Game. Guy had two false-start penalties where he was sprinting off the line trying to initiate contact with Johnson.

You really just name-dropped the sponsor of the spring game?

Glad that out of this entire discussion, you took that section of one post as fit to post a response about.

Great contribution. Rich & compelling.

I think the fact that he got in early will be a huge boost for him. Strength is so important for DL so the extra time at LSUs weight room will help him tremendously.

That being said an 18 yr old is going to be physically behind a 21 yr old so I think him starting over highly talented more physically mature players is unlikely. He will definitely play a good bit IMO.

Anthony Johnson & Mickey Johnson are already on par with the rest of the team from an S&C standpoint.

Neither of those players faces a challenge in terms of becoming ready for the college game from a strength & conditioning standpoint.

They have to learn technique. That's it. If they can perfect it, then they are ready.

Mickey Johnson can bench press 500 pounds. That isn't a 40 yard dash time from Fayetteville, either. He can and has done that in meets & on YouTube, regularly.

We have a good number of players on our team who can bench 400. But, 500 pounds? That's a rarity on our entire squad.

This kid can do it and he hasn't hit campus yet. People who are talking about him not being strong enough to compete are simply uninformed. If he can grasp technique-no small feat-there's absolutely zero reason he can't contribute much earlier than the typical freshman as a result.

For the sake of clarification, contributing much earlier than the typical freshman as a result does NOT = starting as a Freshman.

Link? I know he did it on Youtube in a private gym. I really don't think he did it in a meet where you have to completely rest the bar on your chest.

Only bench video on Youtube of him and it's with a board on his chest. Amazing strength, but not in a meet. There's a big difference.

State Records

The most in the Super Heavyweight division is 490. The most MJ ever did in a meet is 440. Like I said, amazing strength just not what was reported.

In Dallas, the first two DTs on the field will be Brockers and Logan. The next two will be Freak and Downs. Ego will be the 5th.

By the MNC game, I predict it will be Brockers and Freak. Subbed by Logan and Ego. Downs will be the 5th.

I see it slightly diffent with Brocker n Logan to start off the season then Ego n freak in the second rotation. By midseason Brokers n Ego with freak n Logan 2nd rotation.

Probably not but he'll rotate. This is where I'm concerned most about our team. I think we're going to have growing pains with the middle of the defense(DT/MLB). I'm not sold on Downs, Brockers, Johnson being able to seal it all up yet. Potential but inexperienced. Downs is injury prone too.

Downs is being overlooked. Sure, he's undersized. But so was Nevis and to an extent, Dorsey. Downs is a productive player in this scheme and will be very good for us next year, particularly on pass rushing situations.

I'm excited about our depth and youth along the front because a lot of those guys are still experienced.

He will get hi share of rotations. It's up to him if he starts by November or not. But if he does start I think he will get the same amount of reps as if he didn't start. If that's the case it doesn't really matter.

I agree with you downs will be a non factor, to injury prone. Freak still to young needs to learn technique but he has the potential to be special

If there is an injury, he will get a start. Otherwise seniority gets the start, as it is mostly a symbolic title.

I think this is really selling him short for a guy that has seen time on a good DL for the last two years. Sure, has to stay away from the injury bug but we've had several guys emerge later and put up huge numbers for us.

5 guy rotation. There will be a diff between amonut of reps bewtween 1&5, but prob no diff between 2-4.

Im not worried. These guys have spent time under chavis. They will be ready to play. Brockers is a beast.

Miles will never start the more talented player over the upperclassmen.

All evidence to the contrary is irrelevant. . .or the exception to the rule.
