How good is darron Thomas (Oregon QB) ?

Personally I think of him in the same light as tyrod taylor but better equipped with spread offense personnel. I think our defense will hold him in check and force him to throw more, not his strongest attribute. It won't matter though if we can't stop Lamicheal James.

He's the key to this game IMO. Oregon lost to Auburn cause he played arguably his worst game of the season. He's an extremely streaky player with a good deep ball if he gets a rhythm going.

It appears to me that when under pressure, he makes bad decisions.
Otherwise he's pretty solid.

We can handle thomas. I mean yea he is a very good quarterback that can run and has a great arm but we need to focus on james.....I just really hope Sam Montgomery will be ready to play.

Hawthorne: "and they got got him! down goes thomas for what appears to be a 10 yard loss...number 56... anthony johnson came in and just swallowed him."

His stronger attribute is throwing the ball. He could be better at decision making in the option. However, he was just a sophmore pressed into early action. It's rely hard to say what his upside is considering his age. If he can improve his mechanics in the "mesh" and read the game better, it will make our offense the death machine it was with Dixon. He can make a defense respect the verticle passing game. Hopefully with a legit backup qb, he has more of a green light to keep in the run game.

Good enough that he was once committed to us.

He is probably better than Jordan Jefferson .

athletemed, thats funny i was thinking the same thing. I am actually also currently wearing that gameday tshirt.
im hoping for a sophomore slump. More film on him, and lots of time for chavis and co.

Classifying DT as an athlete is a mistake...the same mistake LSU made in his recruitment.

Feeling inadequate to play on the SEC level is nothing to be ashamed of. PAC 10 is full of these type of players.

IMHO, he's a system QB, who foumd the perfect fit for him at Oregon. He wouldn't be nearly as effective of a qb if it wasn't for the majority of his passes coming off the read PA.

Cock, I suspect he wanted assurance he was going to start at QB.
It's like Vince Young and Pat White. They wanted to play QB, Saban saw them excelling at other positions and they might have but they stuck it out at QB in other conferences. That's recruiting. That's how it goes.

And look where they are in the NFL. Those are just stuborn kids who can't except they're not always gonna get to be the star QB. They would be great at other positions.

Darron Thomas couldn't play another position in the fbs.

He is plenty good enough. Period.
LSU has to put pressure on Thomas and consisently get into the backfield. LSU can't let the kid sit back there and get comfortable.
