Baton Rouge would be flooded and New Orleans would be completely spared?

Thanks in advance.

yes IF BR floods that could slow the mississippi enough to prevent New Orleans flooding.

I hope neither happens.

I'm right in the middle of it kinda freaking me out.

yeh....BR flooding due to a sizable levee breach would relieve pressure on NOLA levees and reduce the level of the river.

It all depends IMO on if that water can find alternate drainage, or just gets stuck here.

I'm not real familiar with the topography of BR, but I'm assuming that in general, the higher ground is closer to the river. Wouldn't any water from a Mississippi River levee breach move east towards the Amite River (and other creeks and streams) and run out to Lake Maurepas?
