I hate the end of Tin Cup

The end of that movie is so frustrating. Forget the fact that he kept hitting ball after ball in the water. That first approach shot he hit would have never gone in the water.

Agree, but still a great movie

For realz. A wizard can't put that much back spin on a golf ball with a 3 wood... In actuality he probably would have put up against the grandstands and chipped it close to make birdie... Also how can he hit a 7 iron 227 against sims after the qualifier but has to use a 3 wood to carry the water at 230? He should have been hitting a 5 iron at the most... Other than that, I love that show.

It was the perfect ending. It couldn't have ended any other way and maintain Tin Cup's unwavering faith in himself.

The movie was shot at my home course. The green that sucks the ball into the water has zero slope and is one of the shorter par 4s out there, so I don't like the reality factor. But they sank a lot of money into the course and we now have a Tin Cup lounge, so it's all good.
ETA: I was 15 when the movie was shot, and you had to be 16 to sign up to be an extra. I was so pissed, but I have lots of friends in the crowd. Oh and the guy that played with Don Johnson in the last round was David Preisler, our head pro at the time.

Haha, I don't like it being the 4th hole at deerwood, although I hit a ball from the plaque for fun anyway

NE Houston, Deerwood CC in Kingwood as hehateme said. Kingwood CC and Deerwood have pretty much merged now and the movie was shot across both courses. There's a pelican statue on the back of the 18th green of the Island course at Kingwood commemorating the shot from the movie.
Well there's a damn tree right in front of the green that just isn't in the movie. It's a completely different hole than it is in the movie. I'd much prefer being able to say yeah I've hit the shot from the movie and made the green. But the hole is a Driver-wedge hole so reaching the green isn't as great of a feat as I wish it was.

I just watched TC over the weekend for the first time (yeah I know, hold your comments). I agree, I didn't care for it either. I understand the fact that he stayed true to himself and lost the Open, that much I'll buy. But what I hated was everything else surrounding that turn of events. The sappy music with the violins and stuff, and the crowd going ape shite when he makes it in. Uh...don't you realize he just shot a 12 and lost the lead to finish 15th? They were acting like he just eagled to win the Masters.

Haha. Nothing like a a 3 wood from 260 out landing 10 feet on to the green and then taking Backspin!
Not many guys can back up a 3 wood!

That didn't bother me. He still drained a 3 wood on a par five. Don't care that it gave him a 12 on the hole. They watched him plunk them in the water so they had reason to be excited when he flushed one.
