Baseball, It's not over yet

I know that we've had a tough time since SEC play started, but there are several positives and things always can, and generally do(for better or worse) change.
We've gotten swept twice, it sucks. But these sweeps were at a top 20 team and all were very close. It sucks to lose close, but it's better than being blown out. Florida is a great team and two of that series were very close as well. It sucked losing 2/3 to Georgia, but they're a top 30 team as well.
We're young, our leaders this year were our young players last year. The team is still meshing. They can either rally together as a team or they can fall apart. Let's hope for the former, it's happened plenty of times in the recent past.
Our relief has been hurting, but our starting has been solid. Let Eades and Jones get more comfortable, they can seriously contribute to this team down the stretch. Remember, two of our main contributors at relief last year went down with injury in the off season and another contributor left the team. We knew we were going to be down at relief(and probably pitching overall) coming into it. Luckily, we've also been surprised and impressed by the starters. Hopefully, Matty and, recently Berry, can get some kinks worked out and get us a few saves.
Luck, we haven't had it. Timely hitting requires experience and leadership, two areas that we are lacking in at the moment. It also falls under luck. Things change and our luck can't get a whole lot worse. If we can't have it the whole season, I'd rather have it late than early.
There's a lot of ball left to be played, and we will see what this team is made of in the next 2-3 weeks. Luckily, baseball season doesn't end in April. I'm still looking forward to the rest of the season.

I'm in more than a hornets fan

There done.
Ashame Mahtook and Nola have to go out this way.
Baserunning sucks!
Lack of true pitching coach on staff has screwed the bullpen and the two strike pitching is awful.
1-9 the batting order is not good enough - too many inexperienced, easy outs. At a minimum your worst hitters at least need to work the pitcher a little bit to build up the pitch count.

I'm gonna be honest that it's gonna be tough for me to get back into this team. After this weekend I'm finding it very hard to care. I support the team as always and will not stop following them, but I really don't care anymore as of now.

+1
I didn't even watch Sunday. After Saturday's loss, my frustration from Florida/Georgia turned to apathy. Normally i would have been really pissed about the walk-off loss Saturday night, but I just said "oh well, we suck."
I'll be back on board come Friday, but this team is quickly losing me. If we don't win the Auburn series, I'm about ready to throw in the towel on this season.

wtf else ya gonna do? Fold up the tents and go home? I'll be at as many home games as I possibly can. I'm not going to abandon the team just because they don't win every game. That's what the bandwaggoners/front runners do.If you're really a fan, you will support your team, win or lose.

Same here, usually I listen to the games on Sunday while working. Didn't put the radio on and just checked the score when I got home.
If things are not better by this weekend I've off the train as far as any emotional investment goes.

You guys should just stay home the rest of the season. Who needs a bunch of fair weather fans who only show up when you're winning?

I haven't made it to a game yet this season. Never said I'd stop watching (I have GZ).

Here's hoping Spencer Ware will provide that little spark to get them going. Baseball is a funny game. LSU seems to be on the bad end of all the breaks lately.

i believe if we took 2/3 of all the remaining conference series.. we'd still only be 14-14 in conference?

Why? Are you so fragile you can't deal with LSU losing? Grow up. That goes for JPLSU as well. You sound like a woman who emotionally distanced herself so she won't get hurt.
I am disappointed. I will not pretend I don't care so my feelings don't get hurt. If we lose I will be upset. It is part of being a fan

FYI the season is not over. There are some good things happening. Ott pitched well in long relief. Our starting pitching was great on Fri and Sat and good enough on Sun.
Mainieri's teams have gotten hot before.

Hey, the fewer, the better. More room for me to spread out and be comfortable at The Box.

Agreed!
Remove one pitch from the Saturday night game and one pitch from the Sunday game and we win two of three at Arkansas...ONE PITCH!
Same goes for Florida! Leave Dykstra in on Friday night and maybe we do not give up any runs. One pitch on the Saturday game in the first inning when we gave up an rbi double and that game is 0-0 and who knows!
I am def one of the few that is angry but understand that we are so close to the other side of the SEC standings had it not been for some bad luck. We have the ability to sweep Auburn, Tenn, and Kentucky to make up for it! Hell, we can sweep Alabama and Miss State too! Not sure about Vandy!
If we can get on a roll, it is on like Donkey Kong 5!

quote:or one less base running error or one less bunt for an out only to leave runner stranded or a better throw to home to get the lead runner at the plate. Baseball is nine innings and every pitch, every wasted out , every error makes the difference in a game. Seems like some fans are like our coach, only what happens in the last inning cost the game.

I think the most frustrating part for me is the inability for us in the past to advance to Omaha on the road and the brutal reality that even if we do get hot the rest of the way, we've put ourselves in such a hole that we'll have to hit the road for not only the Supers, but also for the Regionals.
