I'm Looking for a nice formal/romantic restaurant in New Orleans. I searched for a topic on this board but didn't find anything pertaining to a formal place. Anyway, I moved away from Louisiana after college and I'm bringing the GF down to visit friends and family. We are going to spend some time in NOLA and want to have a formal night. I'm looking for a restaurant with good food and a place where we wouldn't feel over dressed (A suit and tie for me and cocktail/evening dress for her)and price is no issue. We are staying at the Sonesta so if at all possible anywhere near Bourbon and within walking distance would be fantastic. Thanks for the help!

Just looked up the Pelican Club and made some reservations. It looks great and the menu sounds awesome.

Pelican Club is really nice. It can get loud, though, so just keep that in mind - a Saturday night in there might not be very romantic, for instance.

After two of their caprianas you'll be contributing to the noise.

My reservations are for a Wednesday night, but thanks for the tip, that's one thing that I was worried about.

You should be cool - and one of you needs to try the "seafood martini".

Will do, reservations for 7:30, Figured we'd get there early for drinks at their bar...or do pre-dinner drinks somewhere else like TA said. Either way I'll give it a shot sometime that night. Anymore recommendations on other places to eat, get drinks, or stuff to do let me know, we will be there for three nights. I've been to NOLA quite a few times and have some things planned but more suggestions are welcome! Thanks everyone.

If the weather is nice and you find yourself riding the street car down St. Charles, hop off at the Columns and have a drink.

Walk up and down Magazine one day for some shopping.

Visit Frenchman St. one night for some great music instead of hitting up Bourbon.

that sounds good notiger, anything that's fun to do in NOLA with your GF/SO is what I'm looking for. I know this is a change of subject from Food and Drink but I figured it's better than starting a new thread somewhere else. Thanks!
