Runnin' jug lines. Great way to catch gar.

I've done it before. Fun stuff. Catch plenty of catfish and gar and an occasional goo.

I've done this many times, with a 2 liter though. Lots of fun and a shite load of catfish.

Its a blast, you set your lines out at dusk, go home, then wake up a dawn and see what you got. Great way to catch catfish and an occasional bass, check your local regs though as many areas do not allow this method.

I have done that several times but would recommend something larger than coke bottles. I use washing detergent bottles. Very sturdy and have a good cap. You can fill the inside of the jug with spray foam as well. A 25-30 lb catfish would be able to hold that little coke bottle under for too long. I have seen them pull 2-liter bottles under for 15-20 seconds at a time and resurface yards away. Very much a pain in the arse at night.

Biggest problem I have had running jugs is people stealing my fish. Someone sees a jug bobbing they just snatch it unlike a trot line where you can't see the fish most times without pulling up the line.

Some places in Guntersville are so thick with noodles and jugs that it looks like a plastic version of milfoil is growing. I bet catfish are sick of looking up and seeing them by now.

Yeah they used this technique on River Monsters when they were looking for gar.

Juggin'...
You have to stay with them to keep people from checking your shite. We set out at dark and drink beer... you hear them take the jugs (splashing and bobbling noises). A good q beam helps too...
Here are some pics from years past...
Btw... now through the end of March is the best time to do it...

Nah... we have an alumnium boat, we just cleaned them at my buddy's house.
That boat is nice for an '83 model.
