Was watching Gabbert last night...WOW.

He put the Show in the Show Me state!
Accurate, absolute cannon for an arm, mobile, seems to be a leader on offense.

#2 rated Qb if he comes out.

I know we almost had this kid.
Of course we almost had Luck. Almost had Thomas. Almost had McCoy.....so on and so forth.

think about how different the offensive numbers coulda been with some of these signal callers.

spare me the Crowton would have wasted em comments. I think Crowton wins with any one of these guys.

now the fact that Crowton NEEDS a QB like this to be successful is a different argument all together and has been discussed on here numerous times.

Offering and "almost having" them a two totally different things.

That said... Les will "get" a good QB going forward... we'll win some and lose some... that's recruiting.

When did we almost get Gabbert or Luck? And the McCoy thing has kind of grown on the Rant the past couple of years, as RP failed here.

My memory could be wrong here.

I think the guys we were close to landing were Dayne Crist at Notre Dame and some guy whose name I am blanking out on who went to Oklahoma State or Iowa or somewhere (white guy with a shaved head).

Obviously we had Darron Thomas for a while as well, and he has turned out great.

ETA: Alex Cate, that's who it was. I kept looking for a guy called Tate and I kept getting results for the Pats receiver

Watched Gabbert at the elite 11 camp, he was amazing. Think he originally committed to Nebraska.

On the other hand, Ole Miss "almost had" Nevis and Ridley, so your post is stupid.

I guess you could throw EJ Manuel in the discussion...not that he has lit the world on fire.

We never had a real shot at any of these guys. We had a better shot at Tebow. (who we actually had a shot with late) McCoy was always going to Texas and LSU was never even a second thought.

Alex Cate, Dane Crist and EJ Manual (sp?) come to mind.

No, actually LSU wasn't even on his list.

He was originally committed to Nebraska, and switched to Missouri after Bill Callahan was fired.

Where do you get your sense of entitlement that you "almost" had all of these quarterbacks?

Yeah, I think EJ Manuel was down to FSU and LSU. He should be a pretty decent QB the next couple of years for Jimbo.

Maybe Gabbert has been developed since he arrived at Missouri. Something is going on there, as Mizzou has had good QBs recently. Or is it just luck vs. our misfortune that their QBs pan out and ours don't since Crowton arrived?
