along roads, in yards, in small suburban, urban wooded plots like you do in other places?

If you go up north or to the east coast, deer and turkey are everywhere...

People there hunt too...

They may be hunters up there, but down here we got killers! There are alot of people in LA that wouldn't pass up an easy chance to take a deer in the places you mentioned above.

West Virginia (and Western PA) has the most deer and turkey I have seen anywhere...Its crazy, and the population level is smaller than LA and they hunt, children even get school off for the first day of deer hunting season..

Sad but true, it is really taboo where I'm from in Va to kill stuff out of season. People will snitch you out in a heartbeat

I will re-phrase...Why do you not see them at the same "Rate"...

I lived in Baton Rouge for years and never saw a deer/turkey in the city limits...If you go to an equal size city up north/east you would see them often...

I've seen quite a few at night along I49 coming South from Alexandria but too many coonasses & rednecks who shoot 'em.

My sister in New Joisey (about 45 mins west of NYC) has huge deer bed down in her back yard and it't not unusual to see B & C bucks trotting through her subdivision at night. My BIL has to protect the flower beds to keep out the deer. They also have turkeys in a wooded area behind their house and Canada Geese by the gazillions.

I would guess greater population density vice more deer.

Connecticut is the same. When I lived in Litchfield county I saw bucks chasing doe's in some very odd places. Also, the wild Turkeys are bigger up there. I could sit on my back deck drinking coffee at gray light listening to Gobblers deciding which one to try.

I limited out fall and spring two years in a row without driving over 5 miles from the house.

The Charlotte, NC and surrounding area is overloaded with deer as well. Just the other night, there was a story on the news about a 6 point buck who busted through the window and was running around a Bi-Lo inside the city limits.

In my case its mostly because of Horses and fences EVERYWHERE!! Before we had all that it was nothing to hunt right off the back porch all the time. now i have to Corn a very specific channel to get them to come between two certian areas.

Having lived in louisiana and Mississippi the difference are the people, in La when you ask someone how they did this past hunting season they tell you how many they killed, in Mississippi when you ask someone how they did they tell you that I seen a few and got a good one, I know of people in Louisiana that go a whole year and see 8 deer and shoot 6 of them and wonder why they don't see deer all the time, also know a few people in La that will shoot 10-15 deer a year, most of them at night.
