Had a big 8 or 9 grunt at me this morning. He was 160 yards away. Shot twice and missed, no hair or blood. He had a little 7 pt with him. First deer I've ever completely missed. I'm back in the stand now, btw, it was the biggest deer I've ever seen on this lease.

Jumped another good buck and doe up on the ride of shame back to the camp. Today is not my day.

At least your seeing bucks. Between 4 hunters we saw 42 does and not one buck.

It is a bad feeling I Know all too well. I missed an enomous one last year. Wouldve been my biggest and probably the biggest in my clubs history, and our club has been around 50+ years.

Saw a wall hanger chasing a doe this morning. He was about 400 yards away on the other side of a tree line.

Happened 8 hrs ago and I'm still thinking about it. This will haunt for a while. Sitting in the same stand watching the trail now.

I killed a 10 point yesterday morning and he had been shot a hair above his spine. The hole had healed but no hair and he had a huge puss pocket on his spine.
When I saw it, I said there must be one sick guy out there knowing he missed this buck. He scored 129.

Are you shooting free hand? I bought a retractable shooting stick this year that makes a big difference in my ability to shoot.

That's why they call it "Huntin" and not Killin.

It takes missing the big ones that makes getting the big ones so DAMNED MUCH FUN!!!!
Hard work and dedication!!!

Get back out there and get er done!!!!!!!!

Probably need to thin them out a little.

To the OP, have you since shot your rifle at a range or at a target with some distance? Just to insure that it is human error.
