Best way to season dutch oven

I need to season my new 12qt. cast iron for the saints/cardinals game. Suggestions?????

First get your magic wand out,
then get some bacon grease,
then get a heat source,
say some magic words and hope for the best.

to season a new pot i always cook up some cracklins or fry something real fatty in it. a smaller pot you can fry up a couple pounds bacon in it. when curing a pot, this is when you rub it down with oil and set in a fire or a grill.

It will never be seasoned right until you cook in it. All the coat with oil and bake bullshite is just that. Fry in it. Fry in it for years. It will come in after a few years of that. All other methods are BS.
