probably because Suh dominated defensively for an entire season, and it's been 4 games for Peterson

I have no problem with this, Suh did it for an entire season, most people don't even know who PP is yet.

So it's basically the same situation.
ETA: But Peterson through 4 games is much more known than Suh through 4 games. Punt returns are much more flashy.

Peterson has done amazing things against several teams that are not very good. The entire idea of a poll at this time of the year is stupid. After 12 games we will be able to make an informed decision. Before we go off about how great he is let's see what he does against Alabama, Florida, and Auburn. If he is still doing great things I'll be right there leading the Peterson Parade, but let's make him be great for an entire season.

Agreed. I'd never heard of Suh in September of last year. Those punt returns (and the ESPN Top Plays that come with them) will put him on the map quickly. The caveat is that teams are going to avoid throwing the ball in his direction, and a shut down corner doesn't get much attention.

I think this is true. I also think that Patrick Peterson is not well known to any casual fans.
Even though his two returns for TDs were on TV, in the two weeks in between, his name was not mentioned much. The casual fan who doesn't live in Louisiana is still trying to figure out why Masoli's name sounds familiar, he/she is not worried about the Heisman race yet, and is certainly not worried about learning the name of a defensive player who returned only two kicks this year.
