does he suffer from the same "savior" complex that Booty did? Fans thought J.Booty was going to come in solve all of our problems and win Championships....If this kid commits and enrolls in Jan. you can expect rantards chomping at the bit for him to get into the bowl game.... lets keep expectations low for this kid.

If he enrolls in January it will be well after the bowls when he starts school....

yea he wouldn't be around for the bowl but you make a valid point about keeping expectations reasonable.

Probably won't play till Miles pet's eligibility runs out, unfortunately.

Although, I hope I'm wrong.

Savior complex?

All he has to do is lead our offense into a double digit ranking and I will be THRILLED.

I second that this. I have no super expectations for Mettenberger, but I would LOVE LOVE LOVE some competition in the spring and some consistency in the passing game.

As long as he plays smart and the coaches aren't scared to let him throw then i don't care what he's hailed as.I'd take him and start him right now if I could. Our QB situation is the only thing holding us back at this point. We are NC worthy everywhere else.

If Mark Richt is fired & Mike Bobo isn't retained, would his acquisition as a replacement for Crowton as OC be plausible?

lets say Mettenberger commits. Does he have to sit out the 2011 football season?

No. He is coming in from JUCO. Since he has already spent a year in college as a redshirt, that is technically like being at JUCO for two years. So he should be eligible for the season.

No, and he has 3 years of eligibility left since he red-shirted his first year at UGA before going JUCO.

Seriously. After what we have seen lately a passing ranking in the 80's would look amazing to LSU fans.

The dude should probably sit because JJ & JL will be Sr's and if Les is still here, guess who will get the rock?

Good point. Miles nevers plays more talented underclassmen.

Gordy Rush and Charles Hannagriff talked a bit about him on the post-game radio show. They almost made it sound as if he was a lock to commit to LSU.

Is that the impression people are getting...or just them?

It makes the most sense for him:

- LSU is a high profile top level program in the best conference

- Our two QBs will be seniors next year and have been underwhelming

- There is absolutely no other QB behind him looking over his shoulder

- He will work behind an improving OL

- He will have incredible WRs to throw to

- He will have a stable of talented RBs

- He will have a great and ever-improving defense to help

- After what we have been through the past two years, all he would have to do is toss a TD pass here and there, not throw bundles of pick 6s, and lead us in an average passing attack and our offense would be good and LSU fans would be happy

- It is widely believed and accepted that Crowton will be gone so he won't have to worry about being coached by him

Stephen Rivers might think differently.

Other than that, I agree.
