it's the Grand Final (!) is that a big deal? Who can tell me stuff about what I'm watching?

I feel like I understand this better than Rugby so far

A TIE! And no extra time?!

They're solution is to just play the game again next week. WORST. LEAGUE. EVER.

So you must have no understanding of American Football if rugby is so confusing to you.

i think that'd be awesome if it happened here

let's say we have another super bowl after the first one ends tied. do you really want football to end?

Yea I don't know why people claim rugby is so confusing. It's such a simple game that I still don't have a clue why it hasn't caught on yet in the States. Awesome game to play and watch.

why don't you go ahead and qualify this statement. I understand american football well cause I've watched thousands of games. I don't understand Rugby well because I've watched a small handful, if even that many. I'd venture a guess that there are a lot of people just like me.

I went to the Grand Final in 2002 and it is obviously not the equivalent of our football atmosphere, but it was rowdy for being and blistery afternoon

definitely! I just got back from Australia last week and attended an AFL match and an NRL match while there, both in Melbourne. Aussie Rules was cool in it's own right because it was action-packed (think high-scoring offenses), but Rugby was just a more solid sport. You could better see how American football came to be from watching Rugby.

I tried to watch it. I really did. I was drunk and everything, but I couldn't follow it at all...

Also...tight tank tops and track shorts is kinda...ghey.

There are two types of rugby is AU: Rugby League and Rugby Union. Union is the same as we play in college. League is a bit faster paced. Aussie Football is like kill the guy with the ball.

I would have liked to have seen Union to compare, but didn't get a chance. Any other noticeable differences?

I just really liked how the clock doesn't stop, they don't wear protective gear and they play both sides of the ball. Heck, even the extra point kicks were cool because it required some serious skill!

It actually does. I'm not sure of all the rules, but towards the end of the game on scrums and if there is an "incident" on the field that is delaying the flow of the game. The ref will signal to stop the play clock.

League doesn't use throw ins, scrums are just for show, 5 'downs' per possession, that's all i got off the top of my head. they are very different. League is more athleticism. Union is more tactical.
