I don't follow recruiting too much. I prefer to focus on guys already here. As we all know LSU loves to run the option. Can either of these guys run the option? Are they mobile QBs? If they are not then are we recruiting any mobile QBs that are capable of running it 10-15 times a game?

I would rather not be an option offense after this year

The option seems to be Crowton's thing, it doesn't seem likely that he'll be around to coach those guys.

Seriously if they can't run it why are we recruiting them? That's become a part of our identity. It's pretty commonplace now.

We only ran it twice tonight. The zone read has replaced the option as the go-to play for Jefferson to look uncomfortable as hell while running with the ball. But at least the read has a chance of working if he gives it to Shep and lets him go to work.

Personally I hope we get rid of Crowton and that lame as option.

I don't think you need to hope. I wouldn't be at all surprised if GC resigned soon.

The option is a great play when run correctly. LSU's problems arise from the fact that Crowton insists on running it with a non-option qb. If you don't have a natural feel for running it, it's sometimes difficult to learn. Also, many people in LA (and evidently Crowton) equate black athletic qb with option qb. They aren't the same.

I think if we want to run the option we have other guys that could do it better. Terrence Magee, Paul Turner, and RS, could all provide the needed footspeed to pull it off.

Exactamundo! You don't need an option QB anymore. With the Wildcat formation, all you need is an athlete/QB who at least is a pretty good threat to throw the ball. Have them throw 1 out of 4 plays and it keeps the defense honest.

Looking at the big picture the QB recruiting might be foreshadowing for things to come. In other words, Mettenberger and Rivers aren't typical Crowton QB so maybe a new offensive approach in the coming yard.

i don't understand his obsession with the option and the opportunity with the best option qb in the nation out of high school on the team not running it. shep can run some of this shite from the wildcat or whatever.

it doesn't matter if the whole defensive team knows what you are doing if you can execute. ask tebow or denard robinson.

Weak. Something that we run only a handful of times a game, and have very little success with, can hardly be called "part of our identity" or "commonplace."
