Just looked at a receipt from Albertson's, and a 16oz package of regular Oscar Mayer bacon bought yesterday was $6.99. WTF?

That's absurd. You can get much better bacon for that price.

I don't buy much bacon, but I recall Oscar Mayer being the priciest. I'm not terribly picky about bacon, and I buy the cheapest as needed.

Can bacon ever be too expensive? I don't think so. Whatever it costs, it's worth it.

Don't go to Albertson's next time. I swear they have the highest prices on everything and their quality isn't very good.

don't buy OM bacon. There is much better stuff, thick sliced apple wood smoked stuff that comes in a 1.5 pound package for 6.00 availible. ETA Wrights is the brand name.

I agree...I rarely buy anything at Albertson's unless it's on sale. Their regular prices have a HUGE mark-up.

FWIW, Wal-mart & Target have OM bacon for about $3.99/lb (regular price). Matherne's runs higher, I think about $5 or more.

Wright's thick-sliced bacon is good, but tends to be higher also.

I just read an article blaming George Bush and global warming for the high price.

You need to check the price on everything you buy at Albertson's...like others have said, they are very expensive.

Buying anything at Albertson, that isn't at least a lead-in ad, is just torching money. Even most of their "deals" are no bargain.

They do however, have the best 5 for $10 Lean Cuisine and frozen dinner deals in town.

So you're not a fan of browning tuna.
