This season is a little different for LSU football as we play our first two games on the road. The season opener in Atlanta against North Carolina is one of a series of games we have added to bolster our non-conference schedule. We also play West Virginia this season, and when you add an SEC schedule that features two Top Five opponents, this will be one of LSU's most challenging schedules in years. Our players will need a strong show of support from the Tiger Nation at home and on the road again this season to tackle this grueling lineup of opponents.

Soon, we will be making another exciting announcement about next year's season opener.

He better be talking about Oregon in Dallas.

Could be Texas Tech. Either way, we're visiting Uncle Jerry's place next year.

"LSU will open the 2011 season vs Oregon at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas. This exciting matchup will allow LSU Head Coach Gary Patterson to make his Tigers debut in the Greater Dallas area where he coached TCU to national prominence."

OK Tiger fans, Alleva has chimed in. Let's kill the nega-rant and do some posi-ranting to support the team.

By the way, I'm all for ending the cupcake games. Maybe one a year for a mid-season break but let's play top schools.

Yeah, you're right, I've clearly doomed the team to failure. The only thing worse than that is realizing that I don't have your approval.

Either of these would be good games to open a season. I will make the trip from North Houston to watch the tigers play for sure if the game goes down in Jerry World. Even playing a game at Reliant with either opponent would be nice. Will be good for LSU to play a game in either city (Dallas or Houston) for recruiting purposes.

I wonder how many people we could put in that stadium. With standing room it can hit 111,000.

Or would they limit it to the 80,000 conventional arrangement to have a better chance at a sellout?

sorry, but I"m not a big fan of these blockbuster openers. I like playing a directional school first, work out some kinks, then playing a game like this. Learned my lesson after 2002 and VT.

Another in a long line of fantastic comments by you. Your thread history is the literary equivalent of Jersey Shore. Well done.

But the problem is, if the other top teams have at least 3 cupcake games, they have a better shot @ BCS. Texas starting the season against Rice @ Reliant Stadium comes to mind...if you are going to play out of town in a neutral site, why not stage the game against a Top 20 caliber team?? I guess Coach Brown wants to make sure he gets a good win in the city of Houston to help with recruiting...to think of the possible meltdown if they played LSU in Houston & lost to the Tigers...
