haven't heard of one. Most of the hot spots out of venice are closed. Have had alot of buddies do overnighters out of Cameron here, lots of wahoo, mahi, and blackfin, but no yellowfin anywhere right now. Good luck! I'm jealous!

Going out of Cocodrie... Heading south of the closure to around Brutus. Then going to just from rig to rig out there depending of what we are hooking up too...

I have not made the trip but several buddies have been making trips ona regualr basis...and from my understanding better go deeper than Brutus...more towards Mad Dog and Marco Polo.

I went last weekend to Brutus and they just werent bitting

flying fish were everywhere but they were rarely getting busted at the surface

we caught them all on diamond jiggs

Word is that Marco Polo is where the fishies are

Brutus is actually in the closure, you have to go about 20 miles south of front runner (which is about 20 miles SE of Brutus) to marco polo, neptune, etc.

I thought about just doing the usual runs to Brutus, Genesis, etc, but read where they can take your boat, equipment and fine up to 14K if caught fishing the closure, a little step for my blood. I purchased a fuel bladder last week to make the run to M Polo, atlantis, neptune, etc. next weekend

I have been talking with people who have been fishing near Brutus, but they havent been checked while out there. I dont have that good of luck.

Both boats got checked 10 miles out coming in by wardens in a 42' Metal Shark (gravois i think)and they asked each person what rig they were at, what canyon, tried to get them to slip up by saying "oh yall fished brutus or front runner" but everyone stuck to their story.

My luck, the 42' metal shark would come flying in at dark as i was fighting a yellowfin at brutus, catching me redhanded

According to my chart and saying the coordinates I have wrote down for Brutus....It is just west of the closure line but is open.

Anybody got a subscription to Hiltons?

I do, that is what i am looking at, Brutus is about 4 miles inside the west closure boundary according to hiltons. Front runner is about 4 miles north of the southern closure boundary

Yes, Brutus, genesis, frontier driller (was it arrived in pascagoula shipyard yesterday) Ensco 85, Front Runner are all in the closure. You have to S west of brutus or S of Front Runner to get out of the closure.
You could always take your chances like some of the other posters.

Well I just talked to one of my buddies and they went to Marco Polo on an overnight last weekend and hammered the yellow-fins so i think that will be the first stop and then work our way back from there...

Please Report back after this weekend, we are planning on making that run next Saturday for a long overnighter. I think i am going to troll from Front runner to marco polo that afteroon, stay at marco polo, troll back to front runner after the a.m. bite.
