I heard it was quite choppy Saturday Morning. Co-worker went out and caught AJ's Saturday.

We went out and it was VERY CHOPPY on the way out... in Terrebone Bay we were in 2-3 foot chop.. we eventually got out the pass and headed south.. It took us from 8-4 to eventually get out to Marco Polo.. It was a 2-3 foot swell with a chop in between the swells so it was a very bumpy ride on the way out. We got out for the afternoon bite and caught a few small YFT on topwaters before we started to set live hardtails for the afternoon bite. Ended up not hooking up to anything during the afternoon bite ( a guide out of fouchon got out right before sundown and they hooked up to a nice YFT right before sunset, they drifted off so i couldn't see if they landed it or not.) We fished from then until about 1 o'clock chunking fishing dead bait and fishing Diamond Jigs. We caught 20 BFT most of them were on Diamond Jigs, but the bigger black fins were caught on dead cut bait. After 1 we drifted off and slept until about 430 and then headed back to the rig and fished ,caught a few more BFT, and started setting up for the morning bite hooked up to one pretty nice YFT but it spit the hooked about 3 min into the fight. We gave it to about 715 and then headed in a caught a few 60 plus AJ on the way in.

The guide was still out there chunking as we left. I think he ended up with about the same amount of BFT and maybe one or two YFT.

All in all it was a respectable trip out to the deep water.

How did you keep the sharks off?

Or did you land 50 heads and 20 whole fish?

Last two time out the freaking sharks tore up just about everything, including taking a swipe at a 90 pound YF.

Hung a BF every drop, but shite, after awhile you get tired of taking bloody damn heads off your hook.

we had a couple of BFT cut up but we only had one head that we brought up. One BFT came about 5 feet from the boat and a Barracuda took the tail off but that just made it easier to pull in just alot harder to clean... We landed I think around 22 and 2 were cut up...

Well sounds like a good trip overall...It appears from the morning picture, the seas laid a little overnight.

Definitely laid down for the last 20 miles of the trip and on the way... It may have been 1 foot seas with a 2-3 footer every once in a while.. and the best was it was just swells and not swells with a chop in between.

It is way smoother but it is a wetter boat than the cat boat. we never would've made it to the rig in the cat boat.. it was too light in the front to take heavy seas... The Cape Horn fish box is in the front and it was loaded with ice and the drink ice chest (120 quart) was loaded in the front as well.. In the cat boat it didnt have anything in the front so it road high in the front and low in the back making the Center of the console take most of the bigger waves instead of the front.

Last time out was in a 36 yellowfin, damn near swore off fishing.

Was on a big cat two weekends prior and it was a nice ride in similar seas.

Rode out on the Reel Cajun two weeks ago, a 65 foot closed bridge Viking. Nice weekend that was
