Worst dining experience ever - River's Edge, French Quarter

I know this is lenghty, but our experience was SO mortifying, i had to include everything
Let's take it from the top. We were a group of 6, and upon entering they said that they could not put 2 tables together, although they ended up splitting us up and seating the group of four at table which was right next to another empty table. Our waiter was way too informal, telling us about his sexual experience with his girlfriend before his shift started, as well as various other life stories in which he said "frick" every five words. This place had the nerve to serve only bottled water, and charge $2.50 per. We got a sampler appetizer (I was at the four-person table), the cheesesticks looked like the kind you buy at walmart, the maranara sauce tasted like salsa, the eggplant had no flavor, and our stuffed fried mushrooms were practically raw. Two of us then got the shrimp poboy, which was on dry, crumbly cheap French bread, the shrimp were overcooked, and they put no mayonnaise on the sandwich. I've never before had a poboy without mayonnaise, and had to eat it with just ketchup because the server disappeared after he served us, maybe for a mid-shift quickie. The other two had the muffalatta, which was cold, dry, greasy with cheap meat that tasted like bolgna and barely any olive salad. The fries were unseasoned and soggy. After we stopped eating (notice I said "stopped" instead of "finished"), our other two friends had finished and paid the bill, came up to us and told us that their server was the worst they had ever had and left no tip, then went outside to wait for us. After they had left, THEIR waiter approached us and proceeded to hurl insults at our friends, like we were the ones that had screwed him over. He then complained to the manager, who seemed to give a rat's arse after we had told him what our friend had said and about how bad the food was. A table of four girls, who had all ordered muffalettas and shrimp poboys as well, and had joined in the complaining. Our bill was $66 dollars and I left a $15 dollar tip (which was extremely generous), then after leaving and standing around outside saw the four girls behind us, who proceeded to tell us that the manager had kicked them out of the restaurant because they were complaining and defending us after the waiter had started saying out loud in front of the whole restaurant how CHEAP I was with my tip! It was the biggest meltdown of a restaurant I have ever experiences in my life. Please fr the sake of your sanity and the sake of the pride of the French Quarter, DO NOT EAT AT THIS HUMILIATION OF A RESTAURANT!
Has anybody else every eaten at this god-forsaken place??

With what you have posted I have to suggest you stick to proven tourist trap restaurants like Bubba Gump and maybe Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville. You are in N.O. and you are ordering fried cheese sticks and fcking fried mushrooms???? Just go ahead and get the spinich and artichoke along with a plate of potato skins while you are ate it.
Never eaten at the place and never heard of it. Sorry you had a rough time.

I was with a group of 6, we were all hung over and didnt get to bed until 5 this morning, and were looking for ANYTHING as none of us had eaten. It was about 2 in the afternoon.
After it all went down, we were all joking with each other saying "Out of all the great food in the quarter and this city, we pick this one?!?!?!"
I'll definitely check out this board next time

Did you all have a good time in the city? Were the crowds good?
From various people I know, I am hearing that this might be the best summer ever in N.O. The hotels and restaurants are doing very well.

Yea the quarter was freakin PACKED today. It really suprised me, as i dont venture into NOLA that often, and wasnt expecting it at all.

The summer is usually quite the slow period, but this year is crazy. Between people coming here that cancelled their beach trips and oil spill workers, it seems that the city is going nuts.
I was downtown a few weeks ago and several people told me they are doing very well. I also was trying to book a free Hilton night next weekend and the riverside and two other locations are sold out. That is unreal for late July.

Which is why I was so upset with this place. When we walked in, the place was packed. Having never heard of it, i took that as a good thing...
It sucks that that place can be so shitty but still make money, because it is such a frickin tourist trap and people are gonna go there bc they're hungry and the restaurant exists

Brigtsen's was fricking packed. They attributed it to Tales of the Cocktail and the hot Vietnemese bachelorette party they had for 20.

Wow. Those are some of the worst reviews I have ever read.
Only 20% of the people that reviewed it, liked it.
Sounds like the manager needs a shot across the chin and he needs to be fired. I'm not even sure I would pay after some of the horror stories on that review site.

shite after reading some of the reviews on that site and the repeating stories of the abusive manager, I added a "Don't Like It" vote for the hell of it. frick that guy.

Nice! You pushed them under 20%.
