Les on the Hot Seat? Think again....

Hi folks,
Collegefootballnews.com just posted a roundtable discussion with various SEC bloggers about next season. (Here's a link: LINK ) One of the questions was: "Which coach will be on the hot seat." Three of the five picked Miles, and one picked Spurrier. The fifth blogger wrote the following, which I think is one of the most reasonable assessments of the state of LSU's program that I've read in awhile. Enjoy....

It’s not Les Miles; not if LSU cares about its future for the next decade. Park the passion and just think about it for a sec. If LSU pulls the trigger on a coach with (i) a few decent if not spectacular seasons with two inexperienced, sophomore QBs and a two new DCs, (ii) six straight top 15 recruiting classes, (iii) is the only Tiger coach to beat Florida, Alabama and Auburn in a single season, ever... and he’s done it twice, (iv) produced a good graduation rate, and (v) is just three years removed from winning it all, riddle me this: what top flight coach is going to step into that nightmare? What kind of bar are you setting? So you’re saying you can accomplish all Miles has to this point (including the 2007 NC), lose your DC, have decent seasons with those rookie QBs, and you get fired??? Good luck finding a truly A-list coach to take his place. Nope, for the second straight season, not a single SEC coach will be fired. How ‘bout ‘dem apples. Richt gets another pass even with a flop. South Carolina has proven it won’t fire the OLD Ball Coach. Kentucky’s got a new man, and everyone else is either too new or has built up too much good will to get fired in 2010.

3 out of the 5 pick les miles to be on the hot seat and he is not on the hot seat , Look I am the biggest Miles supporter but if the offense does not improve and we have a losing record in the sec , there will be serious question marks

He's on the hot seat b/c he has made some extremely dumb moves during key times in games. The whole country laughed at him for weeks.
He is also stubborn with player and personnel moves.
If the offense sucks arse again this year it's all on Miles b/c he chose to bring Crowton back.

Funny, he left out the fact we had a worse offense then Rice and Tulane this year. Any coach who can see how Miles and Crowton has completley misused the talent on offense would love a shot to coach LSU.

True, but only on the seats belonging to people who have no clue how things work.

Something to make the Miles Minions positively joyous!!!!
I wouldn't get so excited here, guys.
Here's what I take from this ..... 3 out of 5 guys think he's on the hot seat. What does that tell you?

A national championship, never less than 8 wins in a season, the greatest 3-season stretch in LSU football history...
...and some people think he's on the hot seat?
Clueless.

It wasn't even the complete lack of improvement, it was lack of any offensive game plan to speak of combined with total lack of game management at times.

well if some slapdick on a website says so....lets lock him up to an extension.

If you offer enough money, none of that will mean shite. I think most coaches know Miles was in way over his head when he was hired and has rode the Saban machine for all of his success. As Saban's maching becomes Miles machine, the less success it has.
Sure dont fire Miles. And LSU will be right back to the same old middle of the pack SEC team than Alabama and Florida will continue to wipe their arse with.

Get realistic. Unless someone hires him away from LSU, or he has a losing season, or he starts molesting his players, there is NO WAY Miles will be fired. You just don't fire coaches who continue to have winning seasons.

Yes, he's made some dumb moves (what coach hasn't?!), and he's also made some good ones. People always want to talk about Ole Miss, but they forget the ending of the Ark. game. I also hear complaints about personnel decisions, etc. in discussions of almost any coach. (I'd LOVE to be able to see some of the comments made about Saban when he was here!) I would say that Crowton is definitely on the hot seat, and if the offense doesn't improve, he will be gone. But Miles....? Not this year, barring a complete disaster (i.e. losing record).

Well, all that shows is that bloggers can read message boards. I would agree that the offense was bad last year, and that if there are not major improvements, there will be serious problems. But I think the likely victim if that were the case would be Crowton, not Miles. Now...if Miles hired a new OC next season and things continued to decline or limp along, then, yeah, the situation would change. given the circumstances of the last two seasons, however, I think Miles deserves a bit of a pass. We'll see how things work out this year.....

You guys that think Les is truly on the hot seat and want a new coach are wasting your time wishing for something that is not going to happen - at least not next season.
