A lot of people said the same thing when we dismantled GT.

I don't think it tells anything about next year. Why would it? Next year could go absolutely any direction. I don't think anybody has a clue what next year will look like. Miles definitely keeps you guessing when it comes to his teams. Strong offense, weak offense, strong defense,, weak defense, beat or lose to Bama, win/lose to UNC, who knows? I would not be surprised by anything that happens next year. Miles is full of surprises.

Everybody likes to think bowl games give you some indication about the next season. But they never do, and if you think about it, its silly to think so. Next year is a whole different team and a whole different season. Just look at all the nonsense on here after LSU destroyed GT last year. Bowl games mean very little in general, but they mean absolutely nothing as far as the ability of next year's team.

nah, but if we lose, miles should be on the hot seat and needs to win at the least the SEC west next year...

I don't think he should have to lose the bowl game to be expected to win the SEC West at least 1 time every 3 years (the same goes for beating Bama, Ole Miss, and Fla at least 1 time in 3 years). Unfortunately, I don't think this is the expectation anymore. All I hear on this board is LSU was expected to lose to Bama and Florida. This is pretty much accepted now. When Miles was first hired this was not the case. Something changed in expectations of the fans. The West is not the objective anymore. He keeps his job with anything 8 wins or over in my opinion till his contract is up.

Using Rant logic, if we win it means we should start the season ranked in the top five and should be competing for the NC next year.

If we lose, it is a sure sign or program is nearing rock bottom and the whole coaching staff should be fired.

It means that our team has the "want" to win.

If LSU wins, they are 10-3. If they lose...they are 9-4.

NO. It just means they won this game. Too much is read into this by the fans.

Not by everyone champ. With the talent on hand and some of the personnel attrition going on at other SEC schools I believe LSU will be expected by Tiger Nation to win at least 10 games in regular season next year and that includes a win over 'Bama at home or UF on the road or both. Several key underclassmen leaving for the draft may change the landscape more than expected in conference. Every mock draft I've looked at recently has Mallet going in the 1st round, mostly in the top ten. Florida could be decimated if all the junior rumors are true. Barksdale leaving early as some mocks claim would probalby be welcomed at this point. Several large and capable candidates on hand to replace him.

You damn right. We should never accept a loss to them, we should never accept a loss to anybody. Moral victories are for Tulane, I know we can't win them all, but we can't let our program slide behind Bama and Florida again.
