Breaking down Penn St

Hello Tiger fans,
I am here to give you as unbiased a perspective on this game as I can give, so brace yourself.
-First and foremost, don't forget you play a team and not a conference. You are playing Penn St, not the Big10. Penn St is playing LSU, not the SEC. Don't ride Bama's coattails and don't penalize Penn St for OSU's shitting the bed.
-Penn State has played two real teams this year, and lost to both, at home. LSU has a signature win against...Auburn? My point is its easy to rag on Penn St in this department, but it's not like LSU has proven to be different.
-Now with the above comment being said, if you can "lose pretty" then LSU has done that, and PSU was really non-existent in their two loses. And Penn St lost both at home, where it's said to be one of the toughest environments to play in.
-Penn St, like most other Big10 teams, benefits from having better talent than a lot of their competitors, but struggle when they are evenly matched.
-If you want the blue print on how to beat them, watch the OSU game. They looked lost, confused, and frustrated. Now I don't think LSU has the d-line we did, but Peterson should have a big day.
-In my personal opinion, Daryl Clark is overrated. He has a tendency to disappear in big games. Even against OSU last year he left the game when they were losing with a concussion. He is the typical guy who puts up big numbers against bad teams. He was much more dangerous when he was running more, but they have phased that part of his game out. Evan Royster is a good back, but nothing the LSU hasn't seen before. He's good, but not spectacular.
-Penn State boasts maybe the best linebacking core in the country. That's really their strength. However their d-line is overrated (a lot regard them as "good", I think they're mediocre), which means their LBs will have to have a great game. Their secondary is pretty bad. Better than last year when they got abused by USC, but not by much. The vertical passing game will be there if JJ can capitalize.
LSU should win by 14. Should. I haven't been impressed with Penn St when they've had the chance to shine, while LSU has shown flashes of greatness (and some not so good )
LSU 27
Penn St 17

Pretty good post. I don't know an awful lot about Penn State, but I can't really disagree with anything you said about LSU.

great post and thanks. Hope you're right in your prediction. We have played to the level of our competition all year, this will be no different.

Les Miles shines in bowl games. FACT

Les Miles has proven over the past 4 years that given a couple of weeks to prepare for a team we will beat that azz.

Penn st is Linebacker U, but I would say that both the Alabama and Florida Linebackers are better this year. Should be a good game.

I would think our win over Arkansas is bigger than Auburn IMO.

I was trying to think of what "Big Game" Clark has won at Penn St, and last year's OSU game is the best I could come up with. But in that game he was a non-factor really, and the backup led them on the game winning drive after Clark Left.
He seems to be a non-factor in their biggest games:
OSU: 12/28, 125 yards, 1 int, 0 td
Iowa: 12/32, 198 yards, 3 int, 1 td
USC (Rose Bowl last year): 21/36, 273 yards, 2 int, 3 td (most came after USC was up 31-7 and called off the dogs)
Iowa (last year): 9/23, 86 yards, 1 int, 0 td
OSU (last year): 12/20, 121 yards, 0 int, 0 td
That stats seem to back up my opinion that Clark just isn't that good of a QB in big games, even though he is regarded as a "threat"
