Is the image below of Herb Tyler photoshopped? Maybe my memory has completely failed me, but I don't recall LSU playing Florida in gold jerseys and white pants. I know that in around 1998-99 Steve Spurrier threatened to not let LSU wear white jerseys at home, but that was after Tyler's tenure (except senior year)...

Yeah Spurrier was being his normal dick self and wouldn't let LSU wear white on the road or something, so we went with yellow.

I remember Spurrier saying in 1998 that he would not let LSU wear white because of how our fans treated him after the 1997 victory, but for some reason couldn't remember that LSU ended up wearing gold jerseys in that game. Guess I forgot about it--must have tried to block out the entire 1998 season from my memory, given our team's record that year...

Can't really blame you. I try not to acknowledge seasons 98-99.

Gold jerseys were standard in the 1940's for LSU. I have tape of the 1944 orange bowl, where we're wearing gold helmets, jerseys AND pants!

Seriously!? Thats badass if you really have something like that. Have you considered posting clips of it on youtube? Such history should be preserved, and available for all to see.

The gold jerseys are hideous!

'98 was my graduation year at LSU but I don't recall watching that game either.

Saban's first year, we wore purple at UF. Same reasons I guess.

We had a pretty good team in 98. We just couldn't get one fricking break the whole season.

Spurrier wanted the LSU job in a bad way and didn't get a fair shake imo. Possibly the worst decision ever by LSU. He would still probably take the job with renewed enthusiam.

This is in fact, despite the failed memory, from the 1998 UF/LSU game. Florida 22, LSU 10. Fred Booker dropped a potential game changing interception.

Also, see link for picture of LSU v. ND in Indy Bowl.

No, Booker ran it to the house but LSU was called for a sketchy offsides. It would have put us up 17-13 in the 3rd.

Dinardo's fist year, we were able to get the NCAA to let us wear white at home only if the road team agreed. The first one to not agree was Vandy. Spurrier said he would agree to let us wear white if we would agree to let Florida wear white at home once, when they asked to wear white at home, we wore the Gold. We would have been dicks not to let UF wear white.
