I remember hearing that Tepper was actually such a good strategist that he was almost TOO good--his players supposedly had difficulty being able to keep up with him and carry out his orders.

Actually this is wrong, the crowd was requested to wear white shirts since the team could not wear white jerseys. Became known as "white out vandy night" LINK
