Although the replay official for the LSU-Alabama game was Gerald Hodges, the “replay supervisor” for the LSU-Alabama game was a man named Dick Burleson, according to Alabama sports talk radio host Paul Finebaum. 11-9-2009: Hour 1 The SEC has confirmed Burleson being in the replay booth.
Mr. Burleson’s official website:
https://www.dickburleson.com/index.html
According to Finebaum, Burleson was in the instant replay booth for the LSU-Alabama game. The replay supervisor has the ability to give "advice" about calls involving instant replay. Quoted directly from Mr. Burleson's website … “He is now an SEC staff advisor on officiating and evaluates officials performance each Saturday from the press box and assists with instant replay.” Also, another quote taken directly from his website … “He is a native of Alabama and was inducted into the Alabama High School Sports Hall of Fame.” Mr. Burleson is same man that wrote a book about his time as an official that was named after something his good friend Bear Bryant supposedly said to him during a game ... "You Better Be Right.” Mr. Burleson lives in Blount County, Alabama and often speaks at Alabama booster club meetings, as well as other speaking engagements around the country, and is compensated for those speaking engagements.
A photo taken directly from the front page of Mr. Burleson’s website shows Burleson with Finebaum, a very popular and controversial Alabama sports talk radio host:
Although most reasonable people would agree that there is no “conspiracy” in the SEC in regards to Alabama, most reasonable people would agree that Mr. Burleson should certainly not be involved in any football game involving the Crimson Tide due to his natural bias. But, nonetheless, he was.
What is the SEC’s response to all of this? … “No comment.”
ETA: Since this post on 11-11-2009, Mr. Burleson and/or the SEC has taken down Burleson's official website on 11-12-2009. The website vanished after the SEC was contacted by Fox 8 News about Burleson being in the replay booth for LSU-Alabama and Burleson's ties to the University of Alabama.
ETA#2: For those that didn't get to see Mr. Burleson's website before it mysteriously disappeared, the quotes above were copied and pasted directly from his official website. Many others on here can confirm that to be true as they saw it before the website was taken down on 11-12-09.
***If you would like to contact the SEC office, the commissioner's email is commissioner@sec.org, the Media Relations director's email is cbloom@sec.org and the SEC fax number is (205)458-3031. The emails and fax number are all public.

sounds like the "good ole boy network" thought we'd outgrown that. wonder if it exists in the selection of refs? could be our officiating needs a major overhaul.

good post...this is a conflict of interest...i'm not sure what the sec or the ncaa policy concerning this is...he was serving in an official capacity...it is not like he was some high roller booster that just wondered into the replay booth...the situation is very interesting to the say the least...someone needs to investigate the story more...this would make an excellent article ....

WOW!!! If this is true.... I'm not a conspiracy theorist guy, but if this true I'd believe that the SEC tries to manipulate games for officials to call them in favor of a certain team. It may not be, "hey Bob here's 50 grand. Call it in favor of bama." But they put guys like this in the booth knowing he will naturally have an Alabama bias. The NBA tell all book told stories of league offices subtle hints on how to call a game. If this is true, I think the SEC very well could do this. Sucks.

LOL!!!! Guys, I forgot to tell you what game Dick also officiated: 1989 LSU vs. UF
He put 1 sec back on the clock for the Gators to kick the game winning field goal.
Left him a voice mail on his cell.
While you may not want to hear this, but the man is of insanely high character. He did not influence that call BTW.

And everyone says Louisiana is a corrupt state. This smells worse than the jocks and sweatsocks going up in flames in the Auburn dorm during the LSU game a couple of years ago.
