Either St.Michael sucks horribly or Live Oak made a huge improvement from week one. Congrats to the team for their first win as a 5A school.

From looking at the box score alone, it was turnovers. SM quarterback threw 3 interceptions and Live Oak returned a kickoff for a touchdown. LO also had a blocked punt TD

Lack of fast black kids at skill positions for St. Michael if I had to guess.

Live Oak has some talent on the offensive side of the ball, but they won't win shootouts. If the QB had more than one receiver to throw to, he'd be pretty damn good.

Live Oak was also balanced as shite.

188 yards rushing, 173 passing on 9-of-15. Also only 1 penalty for 5 yards. Solid all-around game for them.

Nice, I am watching the tape delay now. Scoreless through the first, interesting.

I still think Live Oak should move a few trailers out of St. Helena and into Watson for some skill players....

I only got to watch some of the game last week for a minutes, but they (Live Oak) did not look that good and made a lot of mistakes. Then I looked at the stats the next day, and surprisingly, they weren't that bad and seemed to be pretty balanced, much like tonight's game it appears. The WR (Switzer) is damn good and if him and Bell (QB) get into a rhythm, they can be hard to stop.

I've been looking forward to going to the Walker game on the 25th. This makes me a little more anxious for it. It's about time we started playing them again, along with games against D.S. and Central. The only thing that sucks is my brother isn't playing football anymore to focus on wrestling, so I won't make as many games as I normally do.

No shite. The new high school they're building for L.O. is even closer to the St.Helena/Livingston Parish line, so there should be no excuses.

+1...backup is a sophmore that hadnt played one snap for varsity before this game. He had a rough start, but got better as the game progressed. He ended up throwing 2TDs...

Still sucks for St. Michael. I know they scheduled Live Oak to be a 5A team they could get a win against to boost their power rating. While this likely won't HURT them, it basically boils down to a loss where nothing was gained.

With Jeremy Meyers..StMichael has a scary scary offense. But their defense is just terrible to say the least. I went to the game btw. And I heard that there are only 3 returning starters from last years defense which kinda hurts a little bit.

Live Oak - St. Michaels: The game featured three Division I recruits who were three of the biggest LA stars at the ULL camp back in June (see article at Cajun redzone/Scout.com. Bell QB at Live Oak, Zeller OL at St. Michael's and Scelfo TE at St. Michael's. All three were very impressive last night. These were two weak defenses, although there is good individual talent on both defenses (33 for LO, 21 for St. Michael's, etc.) St. Michael's could have completed the backside screen and throws into the flats all night and did most of the night. They got in trouble when throws got hung up over the middle in traffic. Scelfo made some big grabs...one while being pushed from behind and one that he literally stole from the defender. Stats always vary, but he had 5 grabs for 51 yds in my book. Zeller was impressive, and moves well for a kid his size. Good run and pass blocker. Bell, after his first three throws were simply dropped, was 8-10 for 143 yards with 6 of the completions to Switzer, who had zero drops. The 2 incompletions were appropriate, rather than hanging it up. Live Oak ran clock in the second half, so they only threw twice, but both were huge completions to Switzer and #88. Bell has great mechanics, arm and accuracy and really managed the clock well, throwing when appropriate, carrying out fakes, running the veer and the option. Both teams needed the win, but LO needed it worse, given their upcoming district schedule. St. Michael's can regroup and has a good shot I think of finishing second or third in Disrict and 5-5 could get them in this year. McGrew for Live Oak was impressive, showing good vision, hitting the 100 yard mark and several other guys for both teams contributed to the ground games...Lemoine (big punishing runner who they should run more from now on) and Greenblat for St. Michael's and #22, #8, #29 and #45 for Live Oak all got 2-4 carries.

Iowa also beat Bunkie 48-29 last night. Can't believe there were only 6 games in the entire state last night.
