really? So your telling me 1 player makes this team? Its not really a team effort if you don't spread the ball around.

so what if you had a son on that team that was a WR and maybe got the ball thrown to him 1 time every game?

How you think these other kids feel when they can't make plays to help their team win. Maybe they want to get recognized by a scout? But they can't if they only see one ball thrown to them?

i didn't know HS football was played to get kids scouted...

FWIW i heard patterson's OLine is really good. Why not run the rock when you have an awesome RB and the starting QB is out? Who needs to risk turning the ball over with a green QB especially with the athletes westgate has on defense. From the sound of it they didn't need to pass the ball too much

Acadiana lost to PVB? If your gonna lose to a 3-A team it'd just as soon be parkview right?

The defense has not been good for the last 2-3 years. I haven't seen y'all play yet this year, but I do hope the tackling and pass defense has at least improved a little bit from last year...b/c well, it wasn't that great and made it aggrivating to watch the games.
quote:

Baker, Briggs, McLin all know what they are doing,

Baker seems like a cool guy. He seems pretty focused on the sidelines from what I have seen and does a good job. I'm not a fan of Briggs, especially since y'all had a guy like Coach Weise on the staff who was a damn good LB coach yet it seemed like he was just pushed aside and forgotten....but I'll shut up before I go too far with that one. IDK McLin, although I heard he didn't even play football in high school but I wasn't sure if that was true. (It wouldn't surprise me though, considering there is a certain assitant who didn't even play football while @ Live Oak b/c he couldn't hack it. But hell, he's got some talent at the position he coaches so he won't have to do too much coaching).

quote:

But as far as skill goes..Bell and Switz are the obvious big time guys, but our #3 punch, Hughes, is out for the season with a torn ACL. All got letters of intent/scholarships from D1 schools. But with Josh gone, Chas Kelly is getting some PT at FB to relieve Causey (who will go on ascholarship to a Big 6 school) and Higgenbotham from playing both ways. Tyler McGrew is crazy fast, like 4.1 fast. Prescott is a converted TE who hasn't dropped a single pass in 13 games. And our O-line is anchored by Buck Johnson, who weighs in at about 275, and will also more than likely go to a D1 school.

Why is it that all you damn Live Oak kids worry about these days is playing college football? I've heard this same crap every year about how 4-5 guys have a shot at going to a D1 school....and it never happens. If y'all would actually focus on this season and worry about what you have to do to win the next game, this team could surprise a few people. Plus, the recruiting aspect of the program has always been weak, and that really needs to be improved to give these players a chance to playe in college if they want to. But, I've been saying this for 3 years know and nothing ever happens, unless the kid's parents do all of the recruiting work themselves.
Causey is the most talented kid on the team and has the best chance out of anyway to being Live Oak's first major prospect in a long time. Causey is a great player and knows what it takes to have a shot at playing on the next level. Bell has some talent too, he just needs other WR's besides Switzer to step up. I played with his older player, who was also a solid QB and never was given a real chance to show what he could do. The Bell's are great people, even though the older brother ended up at Auburn. McGrew is fast...not even close to 4.1, or 4.3 for that matter. Low 4.5 probably. He's just a great athlete all around, although I think his best sport is baseball if my memory is correct. Oh, and Prescott better catch those damn passes b/c God know's he tall enough to see over everyone on the field. Tell him I said hi and don't drop the ball.

Bamaman45,

Your little brother is one of the most messed up individuals i know.

Oh, and yes. He is quite different from most kids at that school. I think I hit him in the head too much growing up. At leat he's finally focusing on just wrestling, which I told him to do last year. He was never really that great at football anyway; wrestling, however, is a sport he was born to do, and I'm pretty proud of what he's done so far, especially in a program that's going on only it's 3rd year of wrestling.

this has nothing to do with the final outcome of the game but I think it deserves to be said. ANyone out there see the officiating in the first quarter of our game last night? IT WAS RIDICULUS! There was a flag on every play we ran. THe side judge came on our sideline and called one of our guys ignorant.

You think Live Oak is loaded with these?

No, I think that LO beat St. Michael because St. Michael doesn't have them.

Which is exactly what I said. How you misread that is beyond me, but ok.

How does one "focus" on wrestling? Does he sit in the corner and think really, really hard?

Since when does a coach have to be a phenominal athlete with a long playing resume'? Bamaman45 must just be another ignorant member of the Watson community. Just because you "played" football for Kemp or whoever you played for doesn't mean you know jack about the game or how to coach. Go do some research on the Patriots and Notre Dame head coaches and send me there list of accomplishments as players.
You are obviously on of the idiots who sit in the stands and scream stuff like "shoot dem gaps" and "come on and make some adjustments". Before you insult a football coaching staff you better know exactly what play was called because maybe..just maybe a player screwed up their assignment. Get a college degree (from some place other than Hammond High) become a teacher and get on a coaching staff. Your comments and lack of knowledge make you sound like an idiot.
