I had a liberating thought this morning. I guess reading the rant and the sec rant can make a person lose his faith but here it is:

What if LSU really fixed all their problems? What if our quarterback can really execute well this year? What if our defense is back to 2007 levels with an experienced coaching staff?

What if (gasp) 2008 really was an aberration?

What if Ole Miss and Alabama were the extreme beneficiaries of LSU slipping up?

If this team plays as though 2008 never happened, and they are building off of 2007, this could be an exciting year!

I'll tell you what that means:
We'll handle Georgia. It won't be a blowout, but you won't ever really get the feeling that Georgia is gonna win.
We'll battle Florida. It will be a close game, but we'll probably pull it out in the end.
We'll destroy Alabama and Ole Miss.

It's gonna be a good year.

I agree with you. At the same time with the schedule we have and the inexperienced QB play i would be elated with 9-3. If we beat florida, then theres no limit to what our season could be. BUT, losing that game to UF won't make or break us like it seemed to last year.

If, and it's a big IF as of right now, we fixed ALL of our problems the rest of the SEC better be paying attention.

If they fixed the problems they will be 10-2.

I disagree.

If we fixed all the problems, the only team on our schedule that could beat us (barring silly upsets) would be Florida. Which would mean 13-0, 12-1, 11-1 or 11-2.

I think you're pretty close. The defense will be better and JJ will play well.

2009--9-3 or 10-2.....good bowl game = happy

2010--JJ a junior, this great freshman class all sophomores = NC.

LSU will not be 11-1 this yr. LSU is not going to beat UGA, Bama, and Ole Miss on the road. UF loss is a given and if they get some breaks to go their way, they go 2 for 3 against the above teams.

We won't "destroy" any of the higher ranked SEC teams, we might win a close one, however.

I think this would be the biggest key to a 10-2-or-better season. But realistically, I expect our QBs to have two or three games along these lines: 11-for-25, 150 yds./2 INTs. It's called the learning curve, and our QBs won't be immune to it. 2009 should be fun, and a good season if you can live with a 9-3 record. 2010—now that should be a Fun season. It'll all be good I trust.

Why? Because they play all those games outside of Tiger Stadium? Because Ole Miss and Alabama have daunting home field advantages? Just because the game is not played in Baton Rouge does not mean we cannot win. Les Miles has a sparkling road record.

Follow my thinking for a moment.

The two most dominant teams in the SEC West over the last decade, LSU and Auburn, fell off the map to varying degrees last year. This left Alabama and Ole Miss to step to the front.

But what if Alabama and Ole Miss were just the same ol' teams - albeit marginally better - and the key reason why they were so successful was that Auburn and LSU were so bad?

Then, if we return to our 2007 state, we really can destroy Alabama and Ole Miss.

Or what if the Bama of the 70's, 80's, and 90,s just fell of the map and LSU took their place and now Bama is back to their old self. See, it works both ways.

From reading this board LSU better hope it fixed the problems from last season.
Suicide rate will triple in Baton Rouge if LSU struggles through another season.

We didn't destroy these teams during 2007 and they are better than they were then and we aren't as good.

Reality check here, man. We all love to be the eternal optimists, but the fatass reality is that you don't blow out good SEC teams, especially on the road.

Expecting to go 4-0 or 3-1 against 4 top 12 teams, 3 of which are on the road is completely unrealistic. Can it happen, yes...but highly unlikely.

Winning the games we should win and splitting the 4 tough games would be a very successful year in my opinion. 2010, we come loaded for bear!

I did for bumping a thread from 397-400
I also went on vacation and watched the Yankees beat up on Boston so it wasn't a huge deal me being banned. Just sucked prior to vacation those 5 days I could not post.

I have read same thing still goes on here. Its Lee vs Jefferson = 10-15 page thread. Lots of hate, lots of accusations, lots of stupidity. So I feel I was never gone.

We did destroy Ole Miss in 2007... We were on our way to destroying Alabama in 2007, but kinda got lost along the way...

Maybe destroy is too big a term.

"Win Convincingly"
"Take them out of their game"
"Handle easily"

etc.
