Again, many of you are not looking at this year's team objectively .On O, it revolves around finding a QB (QB's) who can make it happen on Sat afternoon. We do not have an experienced one and few SEC have done well without one. Many will say we have an experienced JJ or JL. A friend of mine, Tony Shell, who QBed Miss State in the mid 80's, thinks a kid needs a whole year's experience in the SEC before he can be called tested. Not to say that we can't have a great season, but the odds go against it without a QB who is proven. On D we have gaping holes. D line ??? No proven stud who is also a leader. Too many "talented" freshman. LB??? To say Cutrera is our best MLB is scary. He showed very little last year, and when he did, it was slow, clumsy and not instinctual. Our OLB??? pursuit and pass defense were not good. No doubt our DB's are skilled, but as a unit??? Not last year. To say a new D coordinator will be the difference may deny that he will be installing a new system to all the players. Snafu's will happen the first year. All of these problems may fade as the team progresses into the season, but its a lot to be so optimistic pre-season.

This is wrong.

Signed, Matt Flynn.

I think Matt Mauck would also laugh at this.

Flynn was a 5th year senior who got to play some and backup several successful LSU QBs in his career. Flynn is not an exception. Mauck got hurt his junior year after 7-8 games (ended up having surgery) to comeback and lead the Tiger's to their first BCS ring. Give me an example???

LSU will not be 11-1 this yr. LSU is not going to beat UGA, Bama, and Ole Miss on the road. UF loss is a given and if they get some breaks to their way, they go 2 for 3 against the above teams.

you sure woke up on the bad side of the bed this morning man. you need to have some kool-aid; feels good. oh and IT IS NOT A GIVEN that we lose to Florida. we are the most pessimistic fan base in the country when it comes to UF. good thing our team doesn't feel that way. we have beaten UF quite a few times when IT WAS A GIVEN we were supposed to lose. this is not a rah-rah post. UF is gonna need the breaks to beat us in Tiger Stadium and THEY know it.

I'm glad the coaches and players don't think like you. I'm sure they busted their arse all spring, summer and fall so they could pencil in 3-4 losses.

I'm curious as to what the 4th daunting road game is that we play against a top 12 team...

If there ever was an SEC slate that could be classified as a cakewalk, Alabama's was it. They played unconvincing football the entire year and benefited from a blowout of a vastly overrated Clemson team. This team loses their star safety as well as starting QB, RB, and most of the offensive line. No matter how the offense gels, I like our chances in this game.

Ole Miss last year was the perfect storm of O's recruiting paying off and Snead's transfer. They'll certainly be formidable early this year, but I just don't see them being able to hold off the Tigers after playing for 10 straight weeks. IMO, this is the most telling number as to why Ole Miss would be hard-pressed to win this game.

Georgia should be a tough game early on. It's the first true test for LSU and the first good game for Georgia once they've had some time to piece their new systems together. Losing Stafford and Moreno hurt, obviously, but they're replacing them with a 5th year senior and arguable the top group of RBs in the conference. Their O-Line should finally be healthy this year to boot. I cannot see why everyone overlooks this game.

Florida is hardly the indominable monster that everyone perceives them to be. LSU will have to play mistake-free football, but if we can avoid hurting ourselves, we'll be good enough and DV will be loud enough to pull off the upset.

10-2 at worst this year.

I just don't see this. They have some talent ,but UGA and Bama will be hell and I just don't think we can sustain what FLA will bring.

I'm not sure Bama will be all that they're advertised to be. Their defense will be stellar for sure, but they have glaring holes at every position on offense and very little depth. I'm also skeptical as to what is responsible for Bama's success last year. Their marquee games were a blowout of a vastly overrated Clemson team, a win over Georgia that was almost depleted by the game's end, and a win over us in OT. I just see their offense having some major growing pains next year.

Georgia will be a very close game and not nearly as comfortable as most think. We haven't won in Athens since 1987..

if so, possible NC#3 this decade.....

(of course, a little luck is needed also, even if you're a great team)

At the same time with the schedule we have and the inexperienced QB play i would be elated with 9-3

Matt Flynn was inexperienced in 2007. Jordan Jefferson has started a few games and Jarret Lee could be much, much improved like Jamarcus was in 2006.

Bama's offense last year never was that great. Tulane kept them out of the end zone on offense.

You know Tim Rattay was not the most mobile QB QB and he ran Crowtons offense pretty damn well.

Here let me educate you
Tim Rattay
He holds several NCAA records, including the NCAA Division I-A record for average passing yards per game with 386.2, and is only the second player in NCAA history to 12,643 yards of total offense

He was in the top 10 voting for the Heisman in 1998

He is also in the top 5 of every offensive category

In 1998, he broke school records as a senior with 4,943 yards and 46 touchdowns to finish second in NCAA history in yardage

All under Crowton, he has played in NFL with 49'ers, Tampa Bay, Cardinals, Titans, and is one of least mobile QB out there.

I think you're pretty close. The defense will be better and JJ will play well.

2009--9-3 or 10-2.....good bowl game = happy

2010--JJ a junior, this great freshman class all sophomores = NC.

2011 -- see Florida 2008-09 as far as playmakers go
