I love the dark roast, but I have to use a good bit more grinds than I do of community

I like it. I'm in different places of business for work every 2-4 weeks and one recently used River Road. I found myself losing loyalty to Community Coffee pretty quickly.

Now I'm back at a place of business that uses Community....

My coffee of choice for the past 3+ years has been their creole roast(med-dark); I dont miss Community one bit.

I'm a Community guy but I do like this one. River Roads isn't too bad.

If I need chicory I keep a pound of CDM in the freezer. I like it and it is one of the cheapest.

The Baton Rouge Blend is a quality product especially if you grind the beans fresh yourself.

I don't get buying better roasted coffee already ground. Coffee starts losing flavor immediately after roasting- within two weeks a huge amount deteriorates. Grinding accelerates this because of greater exposure to air.

Try these basic tips-

1. Get some of the freshest roasted coffee you can find. Big diff from fresh, as in days, to weeks, to months old.

2. Store with as little exposure to air as possible. If it takes you a while to do a pound, keep what you don't use in a week in the freezer. (Must be toatlly sealed).

3. Grind what only what you need per brew.

I'm gonna get on here sometime and expound more on beans n brew. I got some resume witt it.

If any of you loyal Community drinkers have never tried River Road, do your self a favor and compare. It is much less bitter. This is a small family owned business that had the balls to go head up against one of the area's most favorite brand of anything in Community Coffee. To me, its like drinking "Small Batch" Coffee.

FWIW, I have been as loyal to Community as anyone and I think River Roads brand blows em away...............

We drink River Road and Mellow Joy at my office, switching off everyday. IMO Mellow Joy is better, but River Road isn't far behind.

Its good coffee, and I wish them well,
better then any National brand.

But after my taste test, sorry to say I am still a devout Community guy.

Maybe I just need to try a differant blend

Try using about 25% more grinds than you usually use and go 1 roast darker. I have been hooked of River Roads for about 9 months, it is good stuff but to each his own

after someone said we should try it, we switched to 8 O'clock coffee. Light years beyond Community that I have drank since I was a kid. I had heard many years ago that Community has some of the cheapest beans you can buy because that was all they could get when they started out and never changed because the customers love it. Any truth to that?
