I am in Lafayette for Mardi Gras and going to Pats in Henderson. My sister is in town from Houston and she is craving crawfish so we are going to Pats. What should I get?
Not doing crawfish myself because 5 pounds doesnt fill me up and I am way too messy to eat crawfish in public. Thinking about starting with a cup of gumbo and getting the redsnapper and splitting a side of jambalaya with my wife (we both love jambalaya) I am just excited to eat "real" cajun food- which cant be found in BR.
What do you guys think?

The crawfish bisque is excellent...

If Pat's in Henderson is real Cajun food, then real cajun food blows.

Go to Crazy Bout Crawfish in Breaux Bridge or Crawfish Town. Pats is past it's glory days.

I have been disappointed on my past few visits. However, I have heard that their "camp style" entrees are still good.

I just called my friend who dines there quite frequently, and he recommended the crab dinner or crawfish dinner, and the strawberry daiquiris, for what it's worth.

Thanks guys. I know I would get comments about real cajun food. Real cajun food can only be cooked at home. My mom made crawfish etouffee last night. We have been to crawfish town before- its pretty good. Wanna try something else. Ill report back tom.

Pats was real good. I got the red snapper and a cup of seafood gumbo. Red snapper was good but it wasnt the best filet of fish- some parts were a little chewy and it wasnt because of how it was broiled. Seafood gumbo was good, 5 crab claws ( which I love) and lots of seafood overall. I like a thicker base with more roux, but the abundant amount of seafood made up for it.
My sister got the crawfish bisque and boiled crawfish. The crawfish bisque was amazing- 10/10. Better than the seafood gumbo. The boiled crawfish was 4 lbs for $24. Seasoned very well, the onions were on fire but the crawfish itself was spiced fine. They were medium size and easily pealable.
My mom had the crawfish platter- also good. I tried everything on her plate and it was solid. The stuffed bell pepper was the best thing on the plate.
My wife got the filet and seafood jambalaya. The jambalaya had shrimp and crab and it was real good, but Id prefer a sausage jambalaya. Her filet was fine, but nothing exceptional.
Overall, very good service, good food, nice people and a trip to the country is always fun. However, I am a big blue dog cafe fan and I could get griled fish there that is just as good.

I rank Pat's slightly higher than Boutin's....slightly.

Your right, if Pat's is good cajun food then our food sucks.... All they do if fry everything. Every thing is stuffed with the same stuffing, whether its stuffed shrimp or stuffed flounder. Its very inconsistent and overpriced, I have relatives that live in the area, who are friends with Pat and they don't even eat there....

If you want to go to that area just go to Cafe Des Amis.... in breaux bridge. Much better food and atmosphere.

I've also heard that Robin's (right down the street) is very good...

Robin's is freaking horrible. I don't know how that place stays open, there are never any cars there....
