3. While Andre Smith will be an easy scapegoat for why Alabama lost, or at least for why the line couldn't protect John Parker Wilson, I put 99 percent of this loss on Nick Saban and a coaching staff that panicked in its play-calling, didn't adjust for the problems at left tackle and didn't play enough to its strength.

Good read.....

I believe that CLM would have at least attempted to make the necessary adjustments, and not pace the sideline like a jilted lover.

True. Good point. But I do have to hand it to Nicky. During the press conference he took complete responsibility for not having the team ready to play and for not making the necessary corrections to handle the problems they were facing.

Yeah right did you see the same press conference I saw?

He threw the O-Line under the bus first.

Then how do you explain CLM in the UGA, Bama, Ole Miss, and Ark. games? UF is simply better than LSU, but LSU was more talented than the above teams and somehow found a way to lose.

He can do that because he has crazy good job security. He has like $20 mil guaranteed and has nothing to lose. His entire M/O during the presser was about recruiting.
Nicky got it handed to him last night and he realizes it. His record in bowl games is mediocre and with the exception of LSU BCS Championship, he has a poor 'big game' record.
Bottom line is he and Jimmy Sexton are masters of the 'hype machine' and the overall record shows nicky isn't that special.
12-0 this year looked good a couple of weeks ago, but now there is no hardware for the year. You can't hang a banner for SEC West(except for Ole Miss) and now bammers have nothing to show for this year. Given their ranking only a few weeks ago, this could be one of the biggest end of season disappointments and meltdowns of all time. No wonder Nicky took credit, he realizes it is all on his back and it is very, very ,very bad for his 'process'.

As atrocious as the O-line was with pass blocking, his 3rd-and-long pass defense was even worse.

The playcalling on O the first few series was atrocious...he was going for the homerun entirely too much.

Not me. I think that's his most glaring weakness- getting lost in the game. Pretty hard-headed about not sticking to game plan.

OK mr. negatiger. How come you haven't visited that Bruce Feldman thread again where you made all those accurate predictions about the game?
