Two of the top ten state speck records were caught in Lake Pontchatrain. I live about a mile from the lake, but I'm too spoiled and lazy to fish it, and would rather catch tons of small trout in GI.

You caught a 30 inch trout and didn't weigh it?

Didn't have anything to weigh it with, would have had to kill it and weigh back at the marina. That kind of thing doesn't interest me.

WTF? Any pics?

I have some hero shots somewhere. I'll try and dig them up when I get home.

How would you feel if I told you 95% of the bulls we catch we unhook and release without ever taking the fish out of the water

Not much to do with trout that size besides take a picture. They are our female breeder trout, killing one would be unfortunate. I don't know if it would have gone 10lb's anyway.

10 pounds, 30 inches in Mosquito Lagoon. I love that place. Caught on a 7M Mirrolure. I fish with a topwater 7M 90% of the time.

I've caught a few studs just over 5 lbs in Lake Pontchartrain, but the biggest fish i see come from the old school trawlers on the trestles.

We'll never hear from them on here, because the guys are like 80+ years old! I'm not really sure how they enjoy that crap.

Last October I caught one that went 3.5lb and I believe 26" fishing from my kayak in Cypremort Point. Was the biggest from my yak and the biggest that I actually had a measurement on.

I don't count this one because we never weighed it, when I was 16 we went to Grand Isle to spend a week. Before we left I wanted to register for STAR but my dad talked me out of it, waste of money for a 16 year old, etc etc. Ended up catching one that went 29" but we didn't have a scale. It wouldn't have put me on the leaderboard but it would have likely won the kids division that year as I recall the winner ended up being 3.2lbs I believe. I think at the time they gave away a 14' aluminum hull/Merc 25 to the kids division.

Didn't weigh it but I guessed around 3.5-4 lbs and 24" last July. Caught it night fishing off a pier in big lake with an artificial tsunami shrimp on an ultralight spinning rig. Didn't have a net handy and somehow swung it up on the pier with that little rod. It's stomach had 2 huge pogeys in it

Tilco, any particular end of LL that is better? Grew up fishing SLA, but we just got a place in OBA, so I'm trying to learn everything I can about the area. Willing to trade boats full of college tittys for info
