I'm thinking of installing a 1/4" top spacer to somewhat level mar 4runner out (adds 3/4" to the front). Would such a small spacer have an effect on my ride or no?

I can't see it causing any major effect on the ride. I put a 2.5" leveling kit on my old F150 (1.25" spacer roughly) and I didn't notice a difference on the ride quality.

You will have to get the alignment checked though. Nice 4Runner btw.

just got new wheels and tires so I need an alignment anyway. Held off on alignment while I decide if I want to level the front or not.

Thanks.

I had 2.5" poly coil spring spacers on my old 04 Grand Cherokee and currently have 2.5" poly spacers on my F150 and neither has changed my ride.

Removing the front rake will have an impact of fuel economy.

Wait, how is a 1/4 inch spacer going to net 3/4 inch of lift? What kind of voodoo spacer kit are you working with?

How you like those Coopers? I am torn from the Discoverer ATP/AT3, Toyo Open Country AT II, Nitto Terra Grappler G2's.

If you are hooning it you will see a noticeable reduction in high speed turn in performance and more push on the front end. If you are trying to Autocross it you are going the wrong way with it.

Not exactly sure how it works but it's the same way a 1" spacer gives 2.5" of lift.

1/4"

just got them yesterday so I don't know. I am loving how the 17"s softened my ride from the 20"s though.

I really wanted the Toyos but I wanted to keep a narrow tire for fuel economy and the Coopers came in 255/75R17

Basically compresses the coil and the coil pushes back, so you get the height of the spacer and the height of the compressed coil pushing back (I think).

It's just science. Same thing as getting 1" bigger tire only nets 1/2" clearance

Not really the same. That's just because it's 1 inch total height. 1/2 of that is up top that doesn't touch the ground.

Upper control arm is shorter than the lower control arm. So when increase the space between the two, the amount you increase does not raise the vehicle by a 1:1 ratio but usually 2 to sometimes 2.5 to 3x.

I might switch to an 18" from my 20". 20" tires are damn expensive.
