One and only guided trip....Lake Fork....Buddy and myself bring our boat down...Going to fish the first of five days with a guide, to learn how to fish for the remainder of the trip...Guide shows up right as sun starting to rise, after all of the other guides have already took off...Looks like a hippy from way back...Don't judge folks by their looks...has a nice boat, no worries there...Says...If you hurry up and get in, you are going to catch the biggest bass you ever caught in your life...We get in, he does 70mph to our first stop with carolina rigged lizards dragging over an old gravel road bed...during the spawn...We fish and fish on this spot...I catch 1 4lber...buddy is allowed to reel in a 5lber the guide hooked...make 2 moves...nada...we head in for "lunch"...we eat at the diner at the marina...Hoss shows back up smelling like he just rolled out the van with cheech and chong and is chineese eyed...Proceeds to crank the boat and idled to swimming distance from launch...3 more hours of no bite...trolled back to launch...done!
Next morning we wake up feeling raped and put the tracker in and fish little mustang area, louisiana boy style and without a clue...Caught upwards of 40 bass on white spinner baits, biggest was 8lb 7oz...and quite a few 6lbers on the morning feed...main lake area with lizards and continued to do that the rest of the trip...We figured it out on our own without the help of that particular guide...We got to know a couple other reputable guides who gave us tips and advice and now know we shouldve booked with another guide. Funny thing is, this particular guide had/has a great reputation, maybe we just got him on a bad day...Either way, being the first charter trip for us, was not a good experience...

My story involves two different trip. We booked a night fishing trip out of Cocodrie. We get to the fishing area and find out that the guide "could not get live bait" even though it was included in the price. The sun goes down and guess what? his generator will not start. He decides to go to a rig(getting dark) to fish under the lights. On the way, one of his two outboards burns up. He tells my friend,"I don't have any credit, I do not know how I can buy another". My friend tells me I think we are in trouble. We caught ONE speck that night. And now for the rest of the story...we book a trip in Cocodrie a few months later. My friend proceeds to tell the guide with his wife present about our trip from Hell. She says, that is my nephew and godchild. It went downhill from there. My friend now knows that many people are related down there and they don't appreciate their relatives being called incompetent crooks. We caught two fish that trip(he doubled the catch anyway).

Not only did he eat a sandwich without asking he also made a comment that he prefers wheat bread. And then he said he likes coors light more than bud light. It was unreal. I don't think he had a clue how close he came to going swimming that day

I'll repost this one for me.
I'm probably one of the very few who had a bad experience with Capt. Eddie Burger.
Bottom line, didn't catch much of anything the entire trip. I caught one small tuna and that was the only fish we brought back to the dock that day.
Eddie was in a pissed off mood the entire day from the very start early in the morning. The only time he even spoke to us was at the very end of the fishing trip. We were about 15 minutes from the dock headed in at the no wake zone. Eddie turns around and says "So, where are you boys from?". I was so mad I wanted to punch him. This is a question you ask someone when they first get on the boat. Capt. Eddie asked it at the very end of a 12 hour fishing trip from hell. This was the only time he was in a good mood during the trip. He basically ignored us the entire trip or yelled at us. He would get pissed off over stupid stuff. Like pulling the line out of the reel to fast or to slow when we were letting the bait float off. We have never been tuna fishing before so why not teach us? Show me the correct pace to do it! The guy was a dick.
After catching nothing for hours I asked about fishing for something else. Eddie just mumbled a few things and walked away. At the end of the trip it was heart breaking seeing all the other boats carry tons of red snapper, grouper, and dolphin to the cleaning station. While Eddie's deck hand carried my one small tuna to go clean.
It was obvious the tuna were not biting that day. But hell, we paid a lot of money and wanted to catch something. Anything to take some pictures with at the end of trip. But nope, nothing.
We were out in the water for 12 hours. We fished a grand total of 3 hours. We spend 9 hours riding around looking for bait the entire time. We finally found bait. They looked kinda like a bream. They were catching them on white flies while we just stood there watching. But even with our new found bait we still didn't catch anything.
Gas for trip was around 1100.00 on top of the charter price. Which I think charter was 1200.00. So trip was around 2,300 + tip + cabin fees. It was expensive.
I gave the deck hand a nice tip. The kid was friendly and apologizing like crazy at the end of the trip. Capt. Eddie didn't say anything but hand me the gas bill. I didn't give Eddie a tip at all. Capt. Eddie seemed like he didn’t care. He was just happy to be back on the dock.

So customers have to pay the entire fuel bill? That is nuts!

What an a-hole. That is an expensive trip.
