BP, I am in Houston and could help out with eradication if my/your schedule works out. I help trap with a friend in Alice, TX also.

We caught about 30 last year and 3 made it into my freezer as Praseks Hillje Smokehouse Sausage.

I seem to remember you were wanting to trade some hog killing for some trapping lessons. Well I'll be free in about 2 1/2 weeks.

I have a welding inspector working in my shop right now that was doing for side money. Shot a 400# boar 2xs with rifle, got out to get it thing wasn't dead, charged him shoots in face with Glock it jams. Hog gores him leg, then gets him on ground and gets him in rib cage. He manages to get his kershaw knife out of his pocket and cuts a 3" hole in boars neck. Showed me the pics yesterday

the 7.62x39 bullets are 3.11 diameter, not 3.08. so the 300 uses the common 308 and past 120 yards the 300 retains more energy and is better performing.

my buddy has killed 5 hogs and two deer with his. if i ever buy one, i want a 300

Is this where someone says should have had a 1911?

Correct retort is " should have been better first shot placement"

It was a brand new pistol, said he slid the action open to check for round and did fully engage it. He said he never let go of pistol and when he settled down for two seconds, he was able to get knife into action and flip out round. Then emptied magazine into hog. He said pistol has never jammed since. This is big ole country boy from Texas, with a limp from a hog. He said he's from the hills, better recognize!

Not doubting it jammed. Just noting that the first rifle shot should be the last rifel shot aon a pig. Earhole and down.

And I am not sure a 3" hole in a 400 lb hogs neck would have stopped shite. On one that big the important vessles are at least 3" deep in fat on the neck. We use minimum 5" blades for hog decapitations.

Sorry Nimble but at this time the offer is for hog novices.

Keep up the good work traping and killing those bastards though.

Offshore, I would love to learn how to trap. What is your email.

The lack of participation in the contest of course opens up spots for fellow OB'ers to come in and help eradicate the walking pork chop population here. If you are interested in some offseason hog hunting, especially if you have a kiddo you would like to get into the sport let me know.

I must have misread your intent in the first post. No worries.

I saw the hole he cut in his neck, the thing that really saved him is his two big tusk circled back to his ears and he couldn't cut with them. He's from up around Longview area. He tells me a story daily so I'll have another today.

I did not expect as many responses so I have to limit it down some. I will let ya know if things change. If ya have a kid that needs to shoot a smelly blackhaired devil let me know.

sorry man I will let ya know if something opens up.

No apologies needed. I thought you needed some help shooting/trapping them on your place and was going to try and help you out. But it does appear that plenty of OBers are itching for an opportunity. I have plenty of hogs to keep me busy in Alice...and I can sneak in a couple of Turkey hunts while I am at it this month.
