Think of it this way....say you have a big block of granite sitting on the ground with a strap tied around it. Then, you have a 3500lb Ranger and an 8000lb Ram 3500 both yank on the thing going 15mph. Which one do you think will move the block more?

Yeah, the diesel.

But an f250 under suction isn't a block of granite. Yanking on a 12k lb truck buried in sand is only going to break straps, chains, the anchor, or the truck towing.

What I don't get here is that your way failed, many times. In my way, you break suction using mutiple high lifts and lumber. You set carpet into the quickly filling in wheel rut. You use a BUNGEE tow strap. Set off at a high rate of speed, and rather than yanking and breaking something, the force is gradually applied to the stuck vehicle.

No broken parts.

Since you never actually sit there and attempt to pull the vehicle you don't sink. Since the ramger has wider tires and is lighter, it will have less of an issue sinking while accelerating to the highest possible speed so the bungee works.

The ranger weighs half the diesel, yes it has less mass. And force does equal mass x velocity. The diesel won't achieve the same velocity in a low traction environment. So if velocity is increased from 5 mph to 10mph the effectively carry the same instantaneous force. From a momentum standpoint, with velocity being divided by time, the diesel wins again.

With the bunge however, the force on each vehicle is applied over a long period. It increases exponentially until it acts as a simple fixed tow strap. But because of this, the already faster accelerating dog of a ranger is able to acclerate for a longer period. With it's higher velocity, exerted over a longer period of time, and including a rapidly applied full force yank at the end of the bungee, the lighter faster moving vehicle is capable of exerting more force on the stuck vehicle.

Enough to recover the other by itself? Unlikely without a few hundred yanks. But enough to get it out of the hole so 3 or 4 good ol baws in diesels can link up and tow the dead weight out.

Never tried it myself, do you fillet them? Or just scale, gut and fry them whole? One day I'll keep some to try.

The little leprechaun mother fricker is back, still happy, and pimpin' those white flops. I can pretty much guarantee he has white Oakleys and a flatbill on his dash.

I'm not gonna give a physics/dynamics lesson this morning, but your terminology is way wrong and your theory is getting warmer. That's why you aren't getting it right. I'll leave it at that because I am hungry, and hungry hammer = ornery hammer
