I don't think reliability is an issue anymore. With todays manufacturing and machining reputable firearms will all perform as intended.

Eight rounds should be enough to get you out of trouble. Hell for years state troopers only had 6 shot revolvers. But if I could get a weapon with 4 or 5 more rounds of same caliber and be proficient with it, I don't see why I wouldn't go that route for defensive measures.

I carry a 1911 when wearing suit or jacket. Glock 26 in shorts and t shirt.

I have practiced enough to feel that I'm at least proficient with either pistol.
