Or rather the purpose of the tower? Dude towing it had white sunglasses if that helps.

That's what they call a "Texas Style" flats boat, isn't it? The driving bench is elevated for visibility.

Not sure. Seems like cog would be off if a heavy guy was up there

There are a lot of boats like that in South Florida.

sight fishing the flats would be my guess.

Looked like main controls were up top. Are there more on the cc I couldn't see? Seems like running that boat from up top would be dangerous.

I don't fish salt water but have to be dual controls. I assume they run to the marsh then get on top from there. Like the ones you've probably seen on the back, over the motor.

I think the new rage is the boat pictured, with service drive. I saw one a month ago or so and was WTF but I guess it makes sense.

It's definitely a very shallow draft.

Probably used to maneuver in very shallow water. Dual hull lends stability for the raised controls.
Raised controls improve visibility.

Push pole sight fishing in the skinny water. I don't believe there are controls on top.
I have a friend who has one who guides out of Hopedale for fly fishing

Yeah. Isn't that for poling and sighting tailing reds? Though it looks like it's in the center of the boat instead of the back where most poling "platforms" are?

The boat in the picture definitely has controls on top. You can see what looks to be the handle for the throttle control in the picture.

As another poster noted, push pole rigs are pretty much always at the stern. It would be pretty tough to use a push pole from a 10-foot high center console.

I don't communicate with people wearing white shades. It's a language barrier.

Poling platforms are located above the outboard.

This guy drives his boat from on top. It's a new sight fishing technique.
