I have no problem loaning some things but it seems like most who borrow never return your items or care for them correctly.

My dad taught us that if you borrow something return it in better shape than when you got it.

I only loan things to people I know and trust. If they don follow the above rule when something is returned to me, they get scratched off the list.

I get to demo a lot of cool equipment at work. The salesmen I deal with have seen how things get returned to them, and they have no hesitation loaning me anything they have in their showroom. Hell, one guy told me to borrow anything he has because he knows he'll get it back washed and detailed

3 things you never loan out:

1. Your boat
2. Your mower
3. Your woman

In that order, ill loan pretty much anything else. I expect to have it returned in the same shape it left tho.

I was also taught when you loan something consider it a gift- if you do not get it back then you will not be bitter

Never loan:
Anything you make your living with
Anything with a motor
Anything you can't live without

If someone needs to borrow anything then they need to buy one for themselves. Every time I've weakened I've lived to regret it.

I have lost a good friend over loaning some shite, so I no longer do it...

if a friend's grass needs cutting, I'll take my lawnmower over and do it for him, but I won't give him my lawnomwer to use...

I've loaned out lots of things and regretted it. People have loaned me things and regretted it but I always made it right

If it's my stuff it never breaks. If I'm using someone else's shite it never fails something is gonna happen and it gonna cost me enough money / pain / headache that I should have just bought my own

I'll loan people stuff, until they screw it up. Only thing that won't leave my house with anyone else again is my chainsaw. That's just asking for trouble. Damn thing never comes back right.

I try to refrain.

I'll loan to immediate family and that's about it.

I'd rather just go over and lend you a hand with my tools than have my tools missing for an unknown amount of time.

Last few times I borrowed something it broke and I had to replace it with new stuff (cheap tile saw, brad nailer). I'm either going to buy if I need it or rent it from here on out.

Last time I borrowed my next door neighbors riding lawn mower. It turned into a pain in the arse.
1. his battery was dead jumped it off
2. got to my house and it ran out gas. Filled it up went to get something to eat for lunch
3. got back tried to crank it and it's hydro locked due to carb needle leaking filling engine w gas
4. open hood and headlight fell off
5. fixed carb, changed oil, fixed headlight, cleaned up spark plug, and cut the grass
6. never again. He was pleased with the free spring tune up and oil change and said the headlight had been messed up for a while. The scotch tape he used to hold it on must have come off over the winter

at any time half of my shite is at my neighbors house and half of his is at mine
depends on who you loan it to

just yesterday I borrowed an impact from another neighbor
without it I'd have been screwed

Only people I would loan anything to is my dad and my brother. I know they'd return it at least as good as it was when they borrowed.
