The Vudu's worked best when trout and reds were targeting mainly shrimp. The Natural color seemed to be to best followed by the Brown.

Panfish assassins for trout. Seriously

This. I have been tandem rigging these for many many years. Also, Fin S or baby flukes work as well. I have a little box that attaches to my belt that I keep all of my favorite colors in.
They love these Zoom Spinnerbait Trailers,

It's dumb to waste all kind of money on different baits when the same ones work all the time

If you don't catch em with dead shrimp or a gold spoon

They ain't there

did anyone else waste 6 dollars on those vudu shrimp? 2 baits, 2 reds, 2 broken hooks.

New hooks are supposed to be stronger and have more weight so they will be easier to cast

This is true, the hooks have been beefed up on the VUDU shrimp. They also just released a 4" VUDU as well.

If anyone has an old 3" VUDU shrimp with a broken or bent hook, call Egret Baits & they will replace it FREE OF CHARGE with the new version with the upgraded hooks....

I think I've posted this here before, but topwaters are extremely cheap at the Walmart on Tchoupitoulas (Super Spooks, Bomber Long A's and Rebels approx $2 each)

I caught over 60 trout on one tiger vudu a couple months ago, it held up pretty well

My marsh tackle box:

Black Spoons (Johnson Silver Minnow weedless)

Spinner Baits (Redfish Magic and the like)

Top Water plugs (She Dog, Badonkadonk, Skitter Walk)

Various soft plastics (all with some chartreuse somewhere) and jig heads.

Corks, usually rattling variety

And that's IT.

I never use live or dead bait in the marsh, although I will use live shrimp or minnows (croakers) in the summer for trout. But that's outside fishing, not the marsh.

I bought some recently. They do hold up very well with trout, but unless they've changed the hooks, redfish straighten the hooks easily. I lost no fewer than 3 reds due to straightened hooks the last time I tried em. I do like them for trout, if the reds would leave them alone.

***Correction***
I tried Mojo shrimp. Not Vudu.

I've caught some really nice bass in Delacroix and Reggio, and do so every time out. I am just fishing for reds, but the bass won't leave a She Dog or other topwater alone, and every now and then I catch one on a spinner or soft plastic bait.
