what can I do to bring more wood ducks to my pond

for next season?
A couple of years ago wood duck hunting at my pond was pretty decent. The last couple of years it has dropped off. I know there are ducks around because I hear alot of shooting at other area ponds. Im not sure if these guys are baiting the ducks, or doing something with the habitat to make it more accommodating. I dont want to do anything illegal, but would like to change up habitat or plant something to make my spot more accommodating. My pond is around 3.5 acres and is bordered by woods and a slew in about 1/2 to 3/4's of the shoreline.

In the past how many times was it getting hunted a season? Morning and or evening?

At most once or twice per week, about the same as now. Used to see 10-20 birds a hunt but now seeing 5-6 is a good day.
Also, the ducks used to land or Already be in the water when we get there in the am. Now its mostly just flyovers.

My guess is lack of food. Especially if you have oaks near the pond.

At a minimum I would spread Japanese millet and wild rice seed along the banks in shallow water where possible.

That is your problem right that. Way over hunting pressure.

Send e-invites earlier next year but don't have pics of guys with guns this time

Set your deer feeder near shallow end, hogs love wet corn.

then it is a resting only pond - they can't feed in water that deep. once they get shot off a resting pond a time or two - they find another place to rest.
transplant some widgeon grass to shallows
imprint bait the shallows like crazy right after the season and for a large chuck of the summer - ensuring all bait is gone long before you actually hunt.
planting sorghum or wild rice is shallows could help
resting pond - = minimal pressure..

Do this for sure, around late August. The rice can take in a few inches of water and the millet needs to be on moist ground. Just get 1 bag each from co-op and throw by hand.
I am in the same situation as you are. I have a 2 ac pond, deepest part 7ft with a little rice crop on the side. High water earlier in the year screwed up any planting I did.
On a good morning I will have a couple of wood ducks come in and maybe a gadwall.
On the flip side, if I show up mid-day, I can easily jump 20 off of it. Hence what sushi was saying about the resting pond.
If I dont find a better spot for next season, I am going to formulate something to control the water level so I can plant a more plentiful food supply while keeping the water level much lower than what it is now.
It doesnt help that I am surrounded by outlaws on all corners.

This. If you have a good wood duck hole, you might get 3-4 good shoots off it for the whole season. Anything more and they will leave.

I have a similar spot, and using past experience hunting woodies in other "good wood duck holes", I only hit them about 1 weekend a month. Just a couple of times a year.
Most weekends I go somewhere else or deer hunt.
As others have said, additional food is good. But if they want to be in there, nothing beats letting them have sanctuary a couple of weeks to really thicken up.
